SAN RAFAEL GENERAL HOSPITAL : ARCHITECTURE THAT CAN HELP TO THE HEALING PROCESSLANSANG, PRINCESS JOY G.2011123109Background of the studyHospitals play an essential role in the whole world. Hospitals are health care institutions that serves 24/7. it serves as the core of health care delivery in the Philippines, offers high-quality medical care. However, even the best hospitals may not meet the standards of medical care, sanitation, comfort andinfrastructure design of hospitals in other countries. Hospitals in the Philippines are one of the structure of yesterday that simply not able to deliver todays clinical services and these buildings are not designed for sustainability. JUSTIFICATIONWhat : A SUSTAINABLE, GENERAL HOSPITAL : ARCHITETURE THAT CAN HELP TO THE HEALING PROCESSWhy : THERE ARE LOT OF ISSUES EMERGING IN HOSPITALS, EX. ARE TOO MUCH ENERGY CONSUMPTION, WRONG CIRCULATION, NOT READY FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT, HOSPITALS IN THE PHILIPPINES ARE SIMPLY CANNOT COPE WITH TODAYS ISSUES. AS A STRUCTURE THAT OPENS 24/7 TO THE PUBLIC, PROBLEMS AND ISSUES IN INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDS TO BE SOLVE FOR THE SAFETY, SECURITY AND COMFORT OF THE USERS ALL THE TIME. Who : TARGET USERS - PUBLIC Where : SAN RAFAEL, BULACAN

Hospitals pose a demanding situation in power generation. With an fully occupied wards operating 24 x 7, a typical hospital utilizes hundreds of kilowatts of power daily, taken entirely from the grid. Its a massive challenge for hospitals to deploy energy saving programs. Moreover, the high cost of electricity in the Philippines takes its toll on large-scale power consumers like hospitals. To make the establishment financially viable, the cost is shared with patients, thereby increasing the price tag on healthcare.

In this regard, a system that pays for itself through energy savings makes business and environmental sense.THESIS FOCUSIMPROVEMENT OF GENERAL HOSPITAL

Conclusions and RecommendationsIt is important to examine the issues that emerging in hospitals today to see the current problems. Hospital should be sensitive not just to the needs of patients but also to the needs of the staff, nurses, doctors and visitors including patients family. Lot of hospitals doesnt meet the needs of these users, they focuses on the needs of the patients physically. Studying and analyzing the issues in the hospital architecturally shows lot of problems, using the developing trends and various strategic options available for designing, planning and constructing hospital can help a lot to innovate the structure and adapt to the environment today. RESEARCH FOCUS(RATIONALE)With hospitals playing a big role in the community it and in the health care system. They are health care institutions that delivers medical related services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Hospitals should meet the demands of the users continuously. Hospitals must continue to evolve in response to factors such as changing health care needs, population growth, changing environment and emerging technologies. Principles and Relevance to the Projectprinciples of Go green/sustainablehumanizing architecture principleDOH and NBC laws and regulationprinciples in Achievement of Patient Centered Care,Principle of using genericPrinciples to Support Economic ViabilityPrinciple of protection, separation, circulation and control.to meet the current needs and solve the issues of the hospitals.Application to the ProjectWith the use and application of the developed principles, an innovative vision of general hospital can be successfully established. The Improved design of the hospital can make a big difference and be a new start for an improved new experience for health care institutions. COLUMN ALIGNMENTSteel is a "green" product; it is structurallysound and manufacturedTo strict specificationsand tolerances. It is alsoenergy efficient. AnyExcess material is 100%recyclable.Steel does not easily warp, buckle, twist or bend, and is therefore easy to modify and offers designflexibility. Steel is also easy to installSteel allows for improved quality of construction and less maintenance, while offering improved safety and resistance. With the propagation of mold and mildew in residential buildings, using steel minimizes these infestations. Mold needs moist, porous material to grow. Steel studs do not have those problems.COLUMN ALIGNMENT FOR STABILITYDescription The Angel Festival in San Rafael, Bulacan is an extravagant parade where thousands of young people dance on the streets as "angels dressed in colorful and magnificent costumes"

SPRINKLER SYSTEM AND USE OF GREY WATERthe system is inherently eco-friendly. In the event of fire, not only is less water used (typically10-20 times less water than the Fire Service would need to apply), but also, by acting early on, the sprinkler system minimises the polluting effects of the fire, whether from smoke or fire service runoff.UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLYUSE OF BACK-UP GENERATORS

A reliable UPS will guarantee a flow of continuous, clean power to the data center no matter what happens on the power supply side. No critical data center operates without an effective UPS.To attain zero downtime, a continuous supply of clean power must be and a key component in ensuring this is the uninterruptible power supply (UPS).LESS ENERGY CONSUMPLTIONAVOID BLDG.
