More than a showcase of the latest technology, equipment and supplies, LAOWATER 2020 will also host a number of Semi-nars and Technology Symposiums designed to bring together industry leaders to address Laos’ water needs. The Seminars will feature speakers such as Senior Government Ocials and International Experts on New Technology & Processes who will be sharing their knowledge and expertise to upgrade the country’s water and wastewater infrastructure and systems.

China North Industries Group Corporation Limited (NORINCO) has completed and handed over a water supply project to Nampapa Nakhnone Luang (Vientiane Water Supply Enterprise) in February 2019. The project, completed within 21 months, will supply 30,000 cubic meters of healthy and sanitary water per day to nearly 23,000 households in the Lao Capital. The installation of water supply supervisory control and data acquisition systems will also help to reduce any water leakage and improve the management eciency.
Lao PDR will benet from USD 72 million in new nancing, under three projects approved by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors, focused on reducing malnutrition in children and improving public resource use and service delivery. One of the three projects – the Scaling-Up Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene Project aims to improve Laos’ access to water, sanitation and hygiene services.
Japan International Cooperation Agency has signed an agreement worth 97 million yen (US$880,210) with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to expand on Luang Prabang’s water supply system. The project will improve water treatment plants, build new reservoirs and install transmission and distribution pipelines over a distance of 60.2 km.
Vientiane’s rst-ever Water Treatment Project for wastewater treatment is slated to be implemented in 2020. A feasibility of the project is currently underway and the construction is expected to begin in 2020 and nish by 2023. The goal of the project is to implement a cost-eective, economically feasible wastewater treatment plant with optimal operations and to build an environmentally, energetically and ecient sewage system.
