Safari to the North Sea and northern lights

Visit one of the most exiting and unique places in the world, a place where every day is a new experience. Cruising on an Icebreaker, riding husky dogs sleds, amazing landscapes and more than 500 km on a snowmobile, crossing the northern taiga forests from Finland to the Norwegian fjords in the northwest part of Europe. Being close to the Arctic Circle, enhance the chance to see one of the most amazing wonders in nature – the Northern Lights - Aurora Borealis. D 1 - Welcome to Rovaniemi, Lapland.

Phototeva guide will welcome the travellers to Lapland. A short bus drive will bring us to the safari house, where will will be equipped with safari outfits (thermal overalls, shoes, socks, gloves & under caps for extreme weather). After we are all set, we will get on the bus again and drive to Vaattunki, a wild forest area, where lumberjacks determined the unique atmosphere of the wiled nature, to test the gear that will escort us in the next freezing days. Dinner is served in the hotel. !D 2 - Cruise on-board the ice-breaker “Sampo” and the LumiLinna ice castle

This morning we will drive the port city of Kemi where we board the icebreaker “Sampo” and embark on an amazing cruise at the frozen Bothnia Bay. During the cruise we will witness the unique capability of the ship to split a meter thick ice. At some point we will stop engines go swimming in the icy waters, covered with a special diving suits. After the cruise we will return to Kemi for lunch and continue a to the Lumi Linnna ice-castle – a frozen castle and hotel that is re-built every year according to a unique theme.

D 3 - Frozen falls and Husky dogs

After breakfast we will go on a hike. A stiff way down the snowy mountain will take us to the frozen falls. The braves will try and climb all the way and touch the water the stopped purring. After we go back up, we will drive to the husky farm. The dogs will welcome us in the their typical canine way. then we will learn about the manner of their training and how to care for the Husky dogs. We will venture of a dog sleigh-ride in a wild and special terrain, carried by 6 dogs. At the end of the trip we will enjoy a warm beverage. In the evening we will drive to Ivalo, 280Km from Rovaniemi !!

D 4 - Ivalo – Sevetijärvi !In the morning we will get to know the snowmobile, our vehicle for the upcoming days. We will embark on a 170 Km ride in between snowy wooden trails, we will drive over a frozen lake, one of the largest in Lapland and will stop for lunch on one of its islands, your eyes will be swept by with the arctic scenery, the snow-covered woods and the vast white outdoors. In the evening we will arrive at Sevetijärvi reindeer farm (overnight in the farm hostel standard 4-6 persons per room) where we can enjoy a traditional Lapp dinner and Finnish sauna. We will undergo photography training on exposures in the snow and taking care of our equipment in extreme cold conditions. After dinner will venture in the attempt to “hunt down” the Aurora Borealis, if weather conditions allow. D 5 - Sevetijärvi - the Northern Sea - Sevetijärvi

Today we already have the experience in riding the snowmobile. We will go on a safari ride to the north-most point in our journey. We will cross the border to Norway and arrive at one of the fishermen village at the shore of the frozen Northern Sea. We will acquaint ourselves with the lifestyle of the local residences, living under extreme climate. The scenery across the Norwegian boarder is hard to express in words. We will have lunch in the northern side of the Norwegian border and return to Sevetijärvi to warm ourselves in the sauna and eat dinner.

DAY 6 - Sevetijärvi- Ivalo - Rovaniemi

This morning we will go on a safari ride on top of our snowmobiles back to Ivalo. This time we will ride along the eastern coast of Lake Inari. The confidence we have with the snowmobile will allow us to feel the real power of these machines. In the afternoon we will reach Ivalo where we will part with our snowmobile and continue the drive back to Rovaniemi, and enjoy our last Sami night in town. !!D 7 - Rovaniemi, Santa’s village

After breakfast we will head to Santa’s Village located directly above the Arctic Circle where you can meet Santa and his little helpers and equipped with local gifts. Our bus will take us to Rovaniemi airport where we say goodbye.

Visit to Lumilinna castle. 5. Cruise on board the “Sampo” IceBreaker. 6. 3 days snowmobile safari 520 km to the Arctic Ocean and back. 7. Husky dog safari for 2 hours. 8. Visit to Frozen falls in Korouoma. 9. Visit to the Arctic Circle village. 10. All transfers as mention in the day by day.

What’s not included 1. Flights to Rovaniemi. 2. Personal spending (extra beverage, food, etc.). 3. Personal insurance for extreme sport. 4. Solo ride on a snowmobile for extra cost. 5. Single accommodation at extra cost.
