Lasater Beefmaster 0192
Lasater Beefmaster 0192 was noticed early in
his career and quickly became one of our elite
AI Sires, and as a result he has been widely
used all around the world. You can't imagine
a more massive, powerful, heavily muscled,
attractive bull than Lasater Beefmaster 0192.
As a yearling, he was the most prolific
breeder among the 2000 models. Five of his
sons have been selected as Lasater Herd Sires.
Coming from a proven 8-year-old dam, Lasater
Beefmaster 3705 is incredibly massive and
athletic. At weaning he was the second
heaviest bull calf, with a 122 Weaning Weight
Ratio, and as a yearling he was the second
heaviest, outdone by only 4 pounds. That kind
of record added to his awesome phenotype
would be enough to qualify him as an elite
sire, but as an added bonus, he is also one of
our most prolific breeders. Exportable

Lasater Beefmaster 4290
Lasater 4290 is proving to be one of the best
herd sires that we’ve raised in quite a while.
As a two-year-old, he was the most prolific
among his multiple-sire group, leaving 13
sons. Those 13 sons had an average weaning
weight ratio of 107 and yearling weight ratio
of 103. And then he did it again as a three year-
old, leaving 12 sons with an average
weaning weight ratio of 109 and yearling
weight ratio of 106. Exportable.

The newest addition to our AI lineup is 7261,
an extremely prolific breeder. After we chose
the 2012 keep bulls, 15 from a group of 160,
we learned that he sired 5 of the ones we
elected to have join our herd sire battery. He is
out of a proven 5 year old dam. Very thick,
correct, and gentle.

Sired by one of our most prolific semen sires
4290, who also sired 6 outstanding Lasater
Ranch Herd Bulls. He is long and well-
muscled. The way he is built stands out in a
group. As a three year old he was well ahead of
his peers in scrotal measurement. He sired, by
far, the most calves born in 2012..... 33 bull
calves: 15 had IMF ratios of over 100, 12 had
REA ratios of over 100, 14 had yearling ratios
averaging 105

August 2014
Dear Friends:
We hope this finds you well and that we'll see you at our 65th annual field day
and sale on September 5th and 6th. We have great speakers lined up who will talk
about cattle marketingand the very timely role Beefmaster bulls play in the U.S.
cow herd.
We have had a great year, the rains have come in a timely manner and we have
grown much grass. The ranch and the cattle look great. We are sure you will
agree.
As you will notice we are selling a batch of two year old bulls as well as a batch
of long yearling bulls. We are excited about this crossover year as it is a
testament that we were able to successfully move the calving season back to be in
line with the wildlife, another brilliant move by Pa…..Dale.
If you are not able to make the sale, we are ready to assist you in your selection
and purchase. Give us a call. We offer free delivery to a convenient location on
any purchase of five bulls or more. Please make sure you have your voucher for
credit of $500 to apply to any purchase of $5000 or more.
Best Regards,
We thank all of our customers who purchased cattle in 2013. The year they first
purchased Lasater Beefmasters follows their names. We appreciate those who bought for
the first time in 2013 and we gratefully acknowledge those who have been buying Lasater
Beefmasters for five, ten, twenty, and even sixty years! Our records are not perfect.
Pardon us if the year is listed wrong, and if so please give us the correct one.

This years' sale is dedicated to:
DALE LASATERDALE LASATERhave big shoes to fill. Looks like I better start prayin……
This year we dedicate our sale catalog to Dale
Lasater, the unassuming genius behind the excellent
trajectory the Lasater Ranch has had over the past 24 years.
Due to Dale's rigorous culling, the genetic experiment started
by his father continues. The Lasater Ranch produces top,
range ready, unpampered Beefmaster cattle which have had
success from Florida to Oregon.
I have been very fortunate to learn the cattle business
and the intricacies of our business from such a thinker and
patient master. His integrity and his cattle
selection skills have made the Foundation herd of
the Breed what it is today. He spends countless
hours thinking about better ways to handle cattle,
graze cattle, and about rangeland health and
getting our grasslands back to pre-settler
condition. He has been a tireless steward of the
land and cattle for the benefit of his siblings and
for the benefit of the breed. My father and I work
very well together as we play on each other's strengths …….
which is to say, deference to his experience is a daily
occurrence. Some of the significant changes to the operation
have been:
1. Preg check only the cows who are dry at the end of
calving season. This means that any cow which is doing her
job will never be run through a squeeze chute - a time saver,
a money saver, and minimizes cattle handling.
2. Cross fencing; implementing cattle rotation and
intensive grazing which has allowed us to increase our
stocking rate and has increased the abundance of grasses
other than buffalo and grama.
3. Shortened the breeding season to 45 days without
sacrificing masculinity or thickness of the bulls.
4. Driving on horseback the weaner calves back to
Matheson … 8 miles. At the end of the trajectory the calves
know what it is to be driven rather than gathered, a very
important cattle handling lesson for the cattle.
5. Always the visionary, he founded Lasater Grasslands
Beef 10 years before it was time and kept it alive until the
consumer was ready for grassfed beef.

Lasater 8264 ~ sire of lot 112
ale is the second of six children that my sister Mary
and Tom Lasater had. After a successful time in the
cattle feeding business in Kansas, Dale and his
family moved to Colorado to help Tom on the
ranch.
In the early 1980's Tom turned the entire
Lasater Ranch management over to Dale, and he
has been in charge since. Through the years he
has continued to follow Tom's concepts with
emphasis on The Six Essentials of Cattle Breeding. Unlike
some breeders, and very much to Dale's credit, he has not
quietly added an unspoken seventh essential, which is no
white, or a minimum of white, in the coat color of
Beefmasters. As his mother so correctly said, "Color doesn't
matter when the steak is on the platter."
Tom Lasater was one of my mentors starting when
Tom and Mary were wed on the 7th of December 1940.
Now Dale has taken Tom's place in several respects. He has
often helped me with his knowledge and wisdom in various
ways such as in the selection of yearling herd sires
.Incidentally, Dale and I agree that the selection of sires to
use on a breeder's females is the most important judgement
of all in herd improvement.
The foundation herd of The Lasater Ranch is a
mighty good source for the right kind of Beefmaster
genetics, improved by decades of careful and ruthless
selection.
With all best wishes for a successful sale
and many well pleased buyers.

have enjoyed getting to know Dale and working
with him since he returned to the Lasater Ranch
almost 30 years ago. Dale is a pleasure to work
with and is consistent with his approach and with his
commitment to their cattle. He has continued the
Lasater philosophy with the intent to make the cattle
operation more efficient and to utilize the ranch’s
resources to the best interest of the ranch and the
cattle.

“He has oftenhelped me with hisknowledge andwisdom...”
y family's multigenerational
relationship with the Lasater
family led to my lifelong
friendship with Dale. Since he was
my 5th grade teacher on my family's
ranch-over 45 years ago-our friendship
has become a bond of brotherhood
which has supported me in my
professional career and personal life.
As much as he is a cattleman and a
steward of the land, Dale is one of the
most spiritual, cerebral and passionate
people who I know, and with equally
strong doses of each. My long
association with him has provided me
with profound learning opportunities
that began when I was a young boy
living on an isolated ranch. He
showed my siblings and me how to
exercise discipline in our studies in
writing, history, mathematics and
science, in a small room with the big
world outside beckoning. Then, after
class he took us out into that world and
continued teaching us by showing us
how to make a swan dive right into the
middle of it. On long weekends, he
took us on horse packing trips into the
mountains to explore wild isolated
country; after school he took us riding
bareback for tens of miles to old
Indian camp grounds and naming these
places in a way that caught their spirit.
He took us on runs to the airport and
back daily during the school break,
taught us how lemonade without sugar
was best when we got back.
Many years passed after 5th grade,
before I met up with Dale again as a
college student in Reno at an FBA
association meeting. We spent the
entire night catching up, watched the
sun rise, and again, he fired my
imagination by proposing that we set a
date in the future for a horse trek
through Mexico's Copper Canyon, an
epic adventure. Focusing on this goal
kept us in touch for the following
decade.
Between 1989 and 1999, I worked
with Dale at the Lasater Ranch, where
after being there for a short while, I
began writing down one thing every
time I was with him about something
he said or that I learned from him.
One of the biggest things that I grew to
respect was his genius for reducing
things to their simplest form. What
resulted from my close association
with Dale changed my life and it led
directly to the opportunity to operate
my own ranching business on the
Chico Basin Ranch, an hour southwest
of Matheson, a dream come true-
something that my family and I are
endlessly thankful for.
Some of the things that I know about
Dale: if you want the best bull in the
lot, go ask him to talk to you about
what he sees; if you want to learn to
work cattle quickly but efficiently with
minimal stress, spend some time in
pens sorting cattle with him, if you
want insight into your relationship
with the Holy Spirit, ask him out into
the prairie to talk about the forgiving
love of God, if you want to understand
practical bottom-line financial
analysis, ask him to look at your
figures, if you want to talk about the
challenges of your marriage, he will
listen and give you advice that will
make you think. In other words, not
only does he have immeasurable
insight into anything that you'd like to
talk about, he will take whatever time
is necessary to help you in any way
that he is able.
Dale's lifelong passion for the land,
cattle, people and family propelled him
to dedicate the majority of his
professional life to his family's ranch
in Matheson. This includes many
years of caring for Tom and holding
his siblings' hands through the delicate
twists and turns of managing and
sharing something as personal and
sensitive as a family ranch. To this
end, I believe that Dale has dedicated
the best years of his life to insure that
the legacy of Tom Lasater is carried
into the future. However, throughout
the decades that he has spent trotting
hundreds of times across his rolling
prairie land, and the hundreds of
thousands of steps he has taken in the
corral sorting bulls, through the careful
financial management of the business,
the many compromises, great joys and
accomplishments, and through the
close relationships that he has formed
with friends and ranch visitors like all
of us here, Dale has made this great
family ranching tradition uniquely his
own, changing this ranch, this land,
this herd of cattle in ways that no other
person could have.
His dedication and patience and
forgiving spirit have made Dale
Lasater not only what many people
consider a Sage, but one of the finest
brothers, husbands, fathers and friends
that anyone can have. For that, I am
eternally grateful and proud, as I know
all here also feel. Thank you,
hermano Dale!

fter a distinguished academic career, (Princeton,
Fulbright Scholar in Argentina), Dale served in
the Peace Corps in Colombia. During his time
in the Peace Corps, he met and married Janine,
and later had two sons, Alex and Tom.
After completing his service in South America
and several years’ experience in the Panhandle, Dale
went to work for Dekalb Seed Co. During that tenure,
he built and managed the Grant County Feed Yard at
Ulysses, Kansas.
In 1979, Dale and Janine moved to Colorado
Springs and he later became managing partner of the
Lasater Ranch. During his tenure, the partnership
pioneered in using Holistic Resource Management and
began having an annual auction of Lasater Beefmaster
bulls. He and Janine cared for Dad in his declining
years and afforded him a quality life. Dale has devoted
his life to taking care of all the family and the family
business.
In 1985, he wrote the book, Falfurrias, and has
received many honors throughout his career.
Laurie Lasater, August 1, 2014
At has been my honor and privilege to be associated
with Dale for the past 24 years. Not only has he
taught me a lot about the cattle business, but his
stewardship of the land has been very valuable. It is
an honor to call him a friend.

I
The Foundation Herd of the Beefmaster Breed would not be where it is today without the keen eye, the vision and the
dedication to continuing his father's life's work. I think we all would agree; wherever Dale Lasater steps we know there will be
exceptional cattle and uncompromising integrity.
Alex Lasater
ale could have done anything in the world. He could
have been a Harvard professor, a New York editor
or publisher, probably even a rocket scientist.
Thankfully, for those of us who care about land and
agriculture, he chose to continue his father's incredible
project.
I'm grateful for the years I spent working side by
side with Dale and for the many years of friendship to
come.

Innovation and Dedication to
Sustainability
ifty-seven years ago, this reporter spent several
hours interviewing Tom Lasater regarding the Six
Essentials of his cattle breeding program, Essentials
that subsequently were incorporated by cattle
breeders throughout North America. Twenty-nine years
later, Dale Lasater's book, Falfurrias, gave an account of
the development of his grandfather's huge ranch in South
Texas. But this book was more than that. It was in this
reporter's view the best written account to date of this
nation's beef cattle history!

ACTUAL AND ADJUSTED WEIGHTS
Actual birth weights, weaning weights, and yearling weights
are given for each bull. The 285-day and 365-day adjusted
weights listed in the catalog do not include any adjustments for
age of dam. These adjusted weights will not appear on the
breeding certificates of the bulls.
RATIOS
The 285-day weight and 365-day weight ratios show how an
individual bull compares with his contemporaries. Bulls out
of two-year-old dams represent one contemporary group. The
bulls out of mature cows represent another contemporary
group. A ratio of 100 is average while a ratio of 105 is 5%
above herd average and a ratio of 95 is 5% below herd
average.
ADG
Average Daily Gain. The bulls were developed solely on
native range. The test consisted of 100 days between the
actual weaning weight and actual yearling weight. The total
pounds gained as well as average daily gain are listed in the
catalog. This type of development demonstrates a bull's ability
to efficiently convert native forage into pounds of beef.
YEARLING REA AND IMF
We have measurements for Rib Eye and Inter-muscular Fat,
which coincides with the Beefmaster association’s
requirements for developing future carcass EPDs. Keep in
mind, these measurements were taken when the bulls were
yearlings, weighing an average of 751 lbs. These
measurements should be used on a comparison basis, paying
more attention to ratios.
SCROTAL CIRCUMFERENCE
Dr. Shane Porter took the scrotal measurements listed in the
catalog in early August. All bulls with a Breeding Soundness
Evaluation and are guaranteed breeders.
EPDs
Expected Progeny Differences. We are publishing current
EPDs in the sale catalog, when available, for all of our sale
bulls. EPDs are a prediction of future progeny performance
based on performance information currently available.
Beefmaster Breed EPDs and Averages: Birth Weight: 0.5,
Weaning Weight: 7, Yearling Weight: 12, Milk: 2, and Total
Maternal: 6.
Age of Dam:
The dam's age at calving.
Performance Data and Measurements
HEALTH AND FERTILITY
All of our calves receive a seven-way blackleg vaccination at
weaning. Heifers are all OCV. Every bull in the sale has
passed a complete Breeding Soundness Evaluation
administered by Dr. Shane Porter. Bulls listed with smaller
scrotal measurements have passed a semen test and are also
guaranteed to be breeders. Those bulls will be re-measured
prior to the sale and an update sheet will be provided on sale
day. All cattle will be cleared for interstate transport.
CATTLE TRANSPORTATION
A $0.12 per mile credit will be given on each bull purchased
in the sale based on the distance you live from the Lasater
Ranch. For example, if you live in Lubbock Texas, 475 miles
from the ranch and you purchase two bulls in the sale, you
would be credited $114.00 ($57.00 for each bull) off the
purchase price of the bulls when you settle up after the sale.
This credit applies only to bulls that sell in the sale. It does not
apply to females or calves that sell at private treaty during the
field day and sale. This transportation credit only applies in the
continental Unites States. If you are coming to the sale and are
willing to haul cattle in addition to your own, please let us
know. Also, if you need help finding transportation for cattle
back to your area, fell free to contact us.
SIGHT-UNSEEN PURCHASES
If you are unable to attend our field day and sale, we can make
arrangements to handle your bids confidentially. We take this
responsibility seriously and guarantee that you will not spend
any more for a bull by placing a bid with us than you would if

How Lasater Beefmaster® Bulls are Developed
Lasater Beefmaster® bulls grow out the way nature intended, on grass, so they're healthy, more athletic,
and last longer than bulls that have been pushed on feed. True phenotypic differences can be seen when bulls
have been developed on forage, so our buyers can trust what they're looking at. Bulls that demonstrate fleshing-
ability when developed on forage pass these traits on to their daughters, resulting in easy-keeping cows. Bulls
developed on forage have fewer problems with fertility and overgrown feet. Lasater Beefmasters® are able to
handle a heavier work load, and they don't fall apart when they are put into service.
The Advantages of Buying Our Forage Developed Bulls
At weaning, the bulls are evaluated and any bull with an unacceptable weaning weight or faulty conformation is
cut. This occurs in mid April. The bulls are then grown throughout the summer on native range with the only
supplement being salt and mineral. In August at approximately 15 months of age, weights, ultra sound data, and
scrotal measurements are taken, and bulls are evaluated based on performance and conformation. Those that are
deemed to be exceptional will then be eligible for our annual sale. Also, at this time those bulls to be used as
herd sires for the Lasater Ranch are selected. Only the top half of the bull crop makes it into the offering for our
production sale.

Auction Format
Ranch Auction. Although our Sale has an auction format, it has no fast-talking auctioneer and no bid takers.
Every Two-Year-Old bull will have a base price of $2,400. 16-Month-Old bulls have a base price of $2,000.
When it is time to sell a bull, we will ask those who are interested, at the base price, to raise their buyer number.
If there is only one number in the air, the bull will be sold to that number at the base price. If there is more than
one number in the air, we will increase the price in $200 increments until only one number remains. This
provides a very simple way to purchase bulls as you will always know the current bid.
In the event of a tie bid, when the last two (or more) buyer numbers drop out at the same time, we give the bid
to the bidder with the lowest buyer number. The other bidder(s) will then be asked to increase the bid $100 to
stay in the auction. If the bid is increased, then the bidder with the lowest buyer number can raise the bid another
$100, and so on. Basically, we will have a traditional auction between the two (or more) bidders who all dropped
out at the same time.
The Lasater Ranch Selection Program: A Summary
OPTIMUMBEEF CATTLE
THE SIX ESSENTIALS
CONFORMATION
FERTILITY
DISPOSITION
MILK PRODUCTION
HARDINESS
WEIGHT
"Each of the Six Essentials is equally important to hitting the target of producing optimum cattle. Removing anyone of the Six Essentials results in the animal's productive value being greatly diminished."
Tom Lasater
Multiple trait selection means compromise and will eliminate individuals who may excel in a single trait (forexample weight), but do not meet the other optimum criteria outlined in the Six Essentials. Nature itself cullsout extremes.
We believe that optimum cattle are those that will sustain long-term profitability through the efficient conversionof forages into lean beef for the least possible cost.
1. Disposition:Having been raised under identical range conditions, the difference in
disposition between individuals is apparent during the first several days
following weaning. Those with poor dispositions are culled. Thereafter,
disposition is judged continually and animals which exhibit
unacceptable behavior are culled from the herd.
2. Fertility:Bulls retained for use in our herd are bred to their heifer mates
at approximately 14 months of age. All breeding occurs in
large multiple-sire herds. For more than 50 years, the bulls
with the highest libido and the strongest competitive instincts
have left the most progeny. Less fertile bulls, or those less
willing to compete, have left little or no progeny.
Females are first exposed at 14 - 15 months of age. All age groups are bred under range conditions during a
45-day breeding season. Here in the Foundation Herd, strict culling on fertility goes back to 1948. That year,
Tom Lasater decided that, to remain in the herd, a female would need to calve as a two-year-old, and every
successive year, and actually bring an acceptable calf to the weaning pen each year. Those basic production
rules have been enforced, with no exceptions, for nearly 60 years.
How the Six Essentials are used in the selection of Lasater Beefmaster® Genetics.

6. Milk Production:Only bull calves with above average weaning weights are considered as potential herd sires. These bulls will
most likely sire daughters that will perpetuate the heavy milking characteristics demonstrated by their
individual dams. Lightweight calves, both bulls and heifers, are culled at weaning. Dams weaning bottom-
end calves are also culled from the herd.
3. Weight:Bulls to be retained as herd sires are selected based upon
weaning weight, post-weaning gain and yearling weight.
Weaning weight primarily measures the milking ability of a bull's
dam, but also gives an indication of a bull's own growth
potential. Post weaning gain to a year of age (in our program)
measures how efficiently a bull is able to convert native forage
to pounds of beef. Yearling weight is a combination of weaning
weight and post weaning gain and therefore is the most
important weight used in selection.
Approximately 85% of the heifer crop is retained for replacements. Only defective heifers or those that appear
unable to reach puberty at 14 months of age are culled at weaning. After that time a cow is not culled based
on her own weight, but for weaning a lightweight calf. What do we do with all the females resulting from
keeping so many heifers? The strict selection for the Six Essentials and the resulting rapid attrition drastically
limit internal herd growth.
4. Conformation:Conformation is defined as "type on the hook, not type on the
hoof." Muscling, along with length and width of hindquarters is
emphasized in the selection of bulls as potential herd sires.
Animals with any type of structural defects such as problems with
their feet and legs or frame are culled from the herd.
5. Hardiness:Hardiness is exemplified by those animals that relentlessly carry on their production assignments year after
year in a range environment with minimum assistance. For example in our herd, first-calf heifers are expected
to calve out on the range with no assistance. These criteria favor those individuals that are able to carry on
production with minimal intervention and with the least cost.

Lasater 9000 was our most prolific sire in the
2012 breeding season, siring 29 bull calves and
who knows how many heifer calves. Many of
you know that when we choose our yearling
Keep Bulls, we don’t look at Sire or Dam
information. That way, our judgement isn’t
compromised. This year, we were pleasantly
surprised to discover that 7 of our 15 Keep Bulls
are sired by Lasater 9000. He is also the sire of

Lasater Beefmaster Friday Auction Retired Herd Sires
LASATER BEEFMASTER 9602
How Lasater Beefmaster Herd Sires are Selected
Each August we select approximately 15 bulls from the yearling crop to add to our bull battery. We select
the most complete bulls that best exemplify the Six Essentials. Each subsequent year we re-evaluate the
bulls, and with the young bulls coming into the herd, about one-third of the bull battery rotates out. The few
that make it to the age of five are automatically offered to the public in our annual sale.
The Retired Herd Sires in this Offering
After lunch on Friday, beginning precisely at 1:17 P.M., we will have an improptu auction for the retired
herd sires. The bse price for the retired herd sires is $4,500. Alex will briefly summarize them and point out
any highlights. The auction will be for THE PICK OF THE HERD SIRES, meaning the highest bidder can
select any retired herd sire. The process will then be repeated and the highest bidder can select from any of
the remaining herd sires. This will process will continue until all retired herd sires have been sold. This year
we are offering six five-year-old retired herd sires and two four-year-olds. Lasater Ranch retains the
semen rights on all the retired herd sires. Buyers may collect for their own use.

Development of the Beefmaster Breed, document by Tom Lasater
After 1937: The Rest of the StoryAfter 1937: The Rest of the Story
Everyone knows Beefmasters were created by combining the
genetics from three breeds. Those who want to know more
details of the breed’s history sometime ask whether Hereford
and Shorthorn bulls were bred to Brahman cows, or whether
Brahman bulls were bred to Hereford and Shorthorn cows.
And how did the two 2-way crosses become the three-way
cross that was later recognized as the Beefmaster?
These matters have been written about elsewhere and anyone
with an appetite for genetic history can study them in more
detail. Here we focus on the idea that the breeds going into the
creation of the Beefmaster are less important than the rest of
the story. What is the rest of the story? It is the selection
(culling) program based on specific, economically important
traits that has been adhered to in the Foundation herd with
unusual strictness for more than three-quarters of a century. In
fact, the specific breeds used in creating the Beefmaster, with
one exception (1), are of steadily diminishing importance. The
long-standing selection program has had a far greater impact
on both the physical characteristics and the genetic attributes
of the Foundation herd, which has been a closed herd since
1937.
Similarly, Beefmaster lines (herds) that have been separate
from the Foundation herd for thirty, forty, or fifty years may
be quite different from the Foundation herd, even though
they have the same genetic heritage dating back to the breed's
creation. Obviously any such divergence is not related to
breeds, but to differing selection criteria and focus.
For instance, the size and functional appearance of cattle in the
Foundation herd today are a result of the selection for fertility,
of the requirement to produce a calf annually starting at two
years of age, and of the necessity of thriving on native pastures
with minimal supplementation. Foundation herd cows in the
1950's were larger than the dominant English breeds at the
time. Today, the average cow size in those breeds is larger than
the average Foundation herd female. Why? A multi-trait
selection program, combined with the demanding production
requirement, limits size and eliminates all extremes.
Visitors to the Foundation herd always comment on the good
udders in the herd, and often express astonishment at the
cattle's disposition. These and other noteworthy traits in the
Foundation herd are not breed specific, but instead have
resulted from many years of selective pressure. The "ruthless
culling" initiated by Tom Lasater and strictly adhered to by his
descendants is the only way to eliminate negative traits and to
advance economically desirable ones. The selection carried on
by one family spanning four generations far outweighs the
importance of the specific breeds originally combined to form
the Beefmaster.
(1) The exception is the Brahman breed. The combination of
the Bos Indicus genes with the Bos Taurus contributed to the
heterosis and hybrid vigor to a degree that could not have been
achieved by crossing only English and Continental breeds. But
whether Tom Lasater had used Hereford and Shorthorn cattle,
or instead had used Devon, Gelbvieh, Tarantaise, Charolais,
Limousin or other breeds would have had little impact on the
Foundation herd today.
