SupplyRequirementsThe dryer requires a 230 - 240V single 50Hz sinusoidal AC supply.

It must be connected to an individual branch circuit rated for at least 30 amps

and protected by its own fuse or circuit breaker.

Either an isolating switch or a plug and socket (or both) rated for at least 30 amps is

required in the circuit in a position close to the dryer and accessible after it is installed.

RecyclingIn 1993 Fisher & Paykel started taking back old appliances from New Zealand retailers as a pilot study into recycling of whole appliances.

The pilot project gave insights to the process of recycling that no paper evaluation would have revealed. Today some half a dozen people in the Fisher & Paykel Recycling Centre deal with about 25,000 old washers, dryers, cookers, refrigerators and freezers a year. The majority of appliances recycled each year are from our New Zealand retail partners. The spirit of recycling goes beyond appliances themselves with much of the packaging returned to Fisher & Paykel for re-use if the customer does not want it. If it is still in good condition, it is reused for packing another new appliance. The slightly damaged cartons get sold into the second hand carton market while the worst ones get sold for re-pulping.

The recycling centre also plays an important role in recycling waste from Fisher & Paykel factories. As well as the packaging that components come in, all paper, scrap and off cuts from the production facilities are collected and sold. This is a significant saving on the cost of dumping what can not be recycled within the factory.

While we have not yet reached a zero waste position, we are heading in the right direction, and are now undertaking research into introducing the same recycling initiatives into Australia.

Recycling SystemsWe encourage our service centres nationwide in NZ as well as our dealer organisation to return scrap appliances to the recycling operation.

The installation service available for new product provides a free collection of unwanted appliances for the customer. The recycling plant in Auckland offers a free drop off of appliances to the general public advertised through the local council.
