DefinitionA biomolecule is any molecule that is produced by a
living organism. The set of these constitute the majority of living beings.
Clasification• The biomolecules are classified in two groups:
inorganic biomolecules and organic biomolecules. The criterion for the organization of biomolecules is where we can find them
Inorganic biomolecules• The inorganic biomolecules are those that we can find in
the living beings and in the environment. Some examples are water, gases (oxygen, carbon dioxide…) and mineral salts.
● What carbohydrates are?
● Carbohydrates are biomolecules.
● Carbohydrates are a major source and a key form of energy for most organisms.
Types of carbohydrates
• There are various types of carbohydrates, but the most importants are:
• -Monosaccharide
• -Disaccharide
• -Polisaccharide
We need fiber for a correct digestion of food and elimination of waste
FIBER IS MADE UP OF MANY MOLECULES OFGLUCOSA

Lipids & fats

1. Lipids are biomolecules. You only can find them in living beings.
2. They are insoluble in water.
3. We usually call them fats but fats are just one type of lipids .
WHAT ARE LIPIDS?
• Although cholesterol is important and necessary for human health, high levels of cholesterol in the blood have been linked to damage to arteries and cardiovascular disease.
CHOLESTEROL: very important for life.
HORMONES: The regulators of metabolysm
• The cholesterol is the source of most hormones which human beings produce. Hormones usually are lipids.
• We need hormones for:1. Growing2. Developing our sexual characteristics3. Produce urine4. Etc.
What´s a protein?• • Proteins are biomolecules formed by chains of
amino acids.
• In the nature we can find 20 different aminoacids.
• The essential aminoacids are those that our body cannot make and they must be consumed..
• •
Functions
Structural: proteins are the fundamental base of the muscles, tendons and bones.
Protector: proteins are the base of the skin, hair, nails, etc.
Inmunologic
•When some microorganism, (virus, bacteria, etc.) invade the body, some cells in our blood produce ANTIBODIES.
•The antibodies destroy the microorganisms.
•As a result of this action, our bodies are protected.
