Thermo-Kool is honored to be a part of such a reputable school district by being selected to provide an actual size 49’0” x 10’4” x 10’ high Thermo-Kool walk-in cooler/freezer for instal- lation at the Newton Middle School, Newton, Iowa. Thermo-Kool’s uncompromising commitment to a high level of quality and exceptional service fits well with Newton, Iowa’s school and community culture which boasts, “Our entire community feels the Red Pride we have for our schools, academic, athletic, and extracur- ricular teams. Whether you’re raising a family, starting a business or building a home — you’ll want to get to know Newton, Iowa. The community has many great amenities aside from excellent schools. Unique enter- tainment, beautiful art displays and parks, and great attractions for families to enjoy. Established in 1846 and incorporated as a city in 1857, Newton is the county seat of Jasper County and the largest city in the county.” (Source: www.newtoncsd.org) In order to fit the exact space requirements and maximize storage, the walk-in cooler/freezer was manufactured to the actual size by utilizing Thermo-Kool’s high density DURATHANE panel perimeter which allows flexibility in design and the ability to manufacture in 1” panel increments. As is the standard Thermo-Kool protocol, the walk-in cooler/freezer was preassembled at the factory prior to shipment for a thorough quality control inspection to ensure a quick and trouble-free installation with no hidden costs. Since aesthetics are important to the school, the Thermo-Kool walk-in cooler/freezer was provided with a white stucco aluminum finish on the exposed exterior with stainless steel doors and frames. The interior ceiling finish of the walk-in cooler and freezer is also white stucco aluminum which partnered with 48” LED lights provides maximum illumination on the interior of each compartment. Both the cooler and freezer compart- ments were floorless with 12” tall foamed screeds to accommodate a 10” recess. The 38” x 76” door assemblies consist of Thermo-Kool’s patented heavy reinforced steel u-channel door frame design which ensures extra support and rigidity to the door section. The entrance door has continuous steel backups which are foamed- in-place in the door to accommodate all hardware placement. In addition to the standard door hardware, each door assembly includes a 14” x 14” heated peep window, deadbolt locking handle, vinyl strip curtain, heater in both the door and frame, a temperature alarm/ door monitor with a panic switch, motion detector, battery backups and dry contacts, thermostatically controlled heater wire, and 1/8” aluminum treadplate kickplates and jamb guards 48” high on the interior and exterior. For additional panel protection to the front of the walk-in cooler/freezer, custom stainless steel sloped top bumper rails were provided on the exposed exterior. North Star Commercial Agents and One Source Reps Join the Thermo-Kool Team

Terry Heidelberg, Jr. was selected Employee of the Month for December, 2018. Heidelberg was nominated by Thermo-Kool Production Supervisor, Wade Adkins who commented, “When the factory was without a supervisor in the department, Terry stepped up and was an example of what a Utility Specialist should be by leading the department as a second line supervisor. Along with keeping up with employee attendance, material flow, and performance, he also worked to improve the quality of the product his department passes to the preassembly department. Heidelberg has been with Thermo-Kool since November, 2017.

Thermo-Kool recently hired North Star Commercial Agents, Edina, Minnesota and One Source Reps, Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania to represent Thermo-Kool walk-in refrig-eration and blast chillers/shock freezers. North Star Commercial Agents will represent Thermo-Kool in the territory comprised of Minnesota, North and South Dakota, and Western Wisconsin. One Source Reps will represent Thermo-Kool in the territory comprised of Upper Delaware, South New Jersey and Pennsylvania (East of State College). Both of these reputable groups bring a wealth of industry knowledge, relation-ships and sales expertise that will continue to strengthen Thermo-Kool’s presence in their prospective territories.

Thermo-Kool Vice President and Sales/Marketing Manager, Teri Brewer commented, “These are two well respected rep firms who will make great additions to the Thermo-Kool team. We are confident that we will see many opportunities for growth with both our walk-in and blast chiller/shock freezer product lines.”

Jessie Johnson was selected Employee of the Month for November, 2018. Johnson was nominated by Thermo-Kool Production Supervisor, Tracy Hill, who commented, “To help keep fellow departments on schedule, Jessie cross-trained in the frame department to learn how to operate a piece of equipment that is vital in ensuring the required production in the department is met. In addition, Jessie cross-trained on equipment in the metal department. Jessie is not only adding strength to his capabilities but also increasing strength in his and other departments.” David Whitehead, Plant Manager, also commented, “Jesse has embraced cross-training with a purpose and has taken ownership by investing in himself which, in turn, has made the company stronger. This versatility also gives his supervisor another key asset to deploy when attendance is low and production is high.” Johnson has been with Thermo-Kool since May, 1995.

Thermo-Kool continues to provide the best solution to our customers’ needs by redesigning its roll-in blast chiller and shock freezer floor. The new insulated floor is now only one inch thick allowing a rolling rack to more easily transition from the kitchen into our blast chiller/shock freezer. The floor also incorporates a redesigned threshold with an integrated ramp which requires less space outside the roll-in’s door.
