lcb resignation letter from fsja

Dear Florida Smart Justice Alliance Board Members, I, Lori Costantino-Brown, would like to formally submit my letter of resignation from the Florida Smart Justice Alliance Board, effective today Thursday, September 3, 2015. Since its founding five years ago, under my leadership, I have actively engaged myself in the support and advancement of the FSJA in its total capacity. During this time period of which I have funded close to $1,000,000 in efforts to increase smart justice initiatives that protect public safety while saving Floridian taxpayers dollars, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with all of you. It is these efforts that are the most important to me and have constituted my life’s work. While my resignation is something that saddens me, I feel that the FSJA leadership no longer represents the ideals it was founded upon. Additionally, I cannot support or engage in an entity that is associated with Mr. Barney Bishop in any capacity. It was brought to my attention over the last few months, that Mr. Bishop’s operations with regard to “smart justice” were directed towards self-aggrandizement and personal gain, as well as substantially damaging to its reputation and advancement of mission. These were not isolated incidents and were directed to me by fellow Board members, colleagues, and legislators. Hence, the termination of a contractual relationship that has spanned a time period of close to twenty years. I thank those Board members that have provided me with their support and engaged in the promotion of smart justice for the right reasons. Additionally, I wish the remaining Board members the best of luck in furthering their endeavors within the criminal justice arena. Respectfully, Lori Costantino-Brown

Dear Florida Smart Justice Alliance Board Members, I, Lori Costantino-Brown, would like to formally submit my letter of resignation from the Florida Smart

Justice Alliance Board, effective today Thursday, September 3, 2015. Since its founding five years ago, under my leadership, I have actively engaged myself in the support and

advancement of the FSJA in its total capacity. During this time period of which I have funded close to

$1,000,000 in efforts to increase smart justice initiatives that protect public safety while saving Floridian

taxpayers dollars, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with all of you. It is these efforts that are the most

important to me and have constituted my life’s work. While my resignation is something that saddens me, I feel that the FSJA leadership no longer represents

the ideals it was founded upon. Additionally, I cannot support or engage in an entity that is associated

with Mr. Barney Bishop in any capacity. It was brought to my attention over the last few months, that Mr.

Bishop’s operations with regard to “smart justice” were directed towards self-aggrandizement and

personal gain, as well as substantially damaging to its reputation and advancement of mission. These were

not isolated incidents and were directed to me by fellow Board members, colleagues, and legislators.

Hence, the termination of a contractual relationship that has spanned a time period of close to twenty

years. I thank those Board members that have provided me with their support and engaged in the promotion of

smart justice for the right reasons. Additionally, I wish the remaining Board members the best of luck in

furthering their endeavors within the criminal justice arena. Respectfully,
