We strive to advocate for our students so that they may learn to be self-advocates and strong, independent individuals in society. Instructional Support encourages open, positive communica- tion among all parties: students, parents, teachers, administration and more. Through the use of academic, social, emotional opportunities and opportunistic learning, we endeavor to not only meet student goals, but also exceed them, so that students can develop a habit of surpassing all expectations. Testimonial“I.S. allows me to just be me. I know that Mrs.

Calhoun and Miss Malloy will give me 110% in all that they help me with . I trust them and know that they are always there for me. I.S. is way more than

instructional support, it is the best period of the day and a way of life.”

- Mark Gales, Class of 2014

Typical I.S. PeriodWhen students come to IS, they will walk into a room of 2-10 students and 1-2 teachers. In here, students are free to work on any homework, projects, presentations, etc. that they like and may need some extra help with. Also, Mrs. Calhoun and Miss Malloy could assist students with some review work, job searches, college applications, project/paper editing, and much more! There could also be students in from other classes taking tests in an environment different from their classroom. Whatever help is needed, IS works to meet your needs.Typical I.S. Period

How do I get Involved?

To be involved in the Instructional Support program, the students must have documentation from a school district, physician, IU, or psychologist that states that the student has a diagnosed disability. During the 4th quarter of the school year, Mrs. Calhoun and Miss Malloy will contact the six Catholic schools to collect any documentation for incoming 9th graders. If your son or daughter attends on of those schools, (s)he will bring home a Request for Documentation form that the parent or guardian needs to sign. If your student does not attend one of the Catholic grade schools, simply pass along any documentation to our guidanceofficepriortoJuly1,2015.Fromthere,Mrs.Calhoun will contact you and set up an appointment to discuss any accommodations that will be put into place at Lancaster Catholic High School.
