To be successful…

Kipp Bentley

Senior Fellow, CDE

Former Executive Director of Interdisciplinary Learning, Denver PS

Be dependable.

Know your limits.

Play well with others.

Build relationships.

Beware sacred cows.

Be a voice for schools.

Be a bridge.

Listen more, talk less.

Spend time in schools.

Plant seeds.

Persevere

Build a strong team.

Learn from your mistakes.

Communicate your values.

Centrally supported technology...

Is probably not innovative.

Don’t summarily deny schools’ requests…

Instead, find a solution.

Don’t be smug.

Look gift horses in the mouth.

Big departments make big targets.

Find your mentors.

Be a mentor.

Email is efficient, though...

Talking can be better…

But not as good as in-person.

Don’t take yourself too seriously.

Have some fun.

Celebrate success.

Remember, you’re a public servant.

And as always, you must be present to win.

Good luck!
