OXE Diesel Outboard Engine Makes Successive Waves at IMDEX Asia &

Philmarine 2017

CEL secures order, places Cat® at core of GPDI’S project in Xinjiang Software Park

After being showcased in Shanghai and Vietnam, OXE Diesel Outboard Engine – the world’s first high performance diesel outboard engine – made its next stop at the IMDEX Asia exhibition held from 16 to 18 May at Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore. This was followedby the Philmarine 2017 Exhibition in Philippines from 12 to 14 July.

Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) is the exclusive distributor for the OXE Diesel Outboard Engine in Southeast Asia and the Maldives, and participated in both exhibitions.

IMDEX Asia 2017 is Asia Pacific’s

international maritime defence show. Held in

conjunction this year with the Republic of

Singapore Navy’s 50th Anniversary

Celebrations, the exhibition was the largest

edition ever held. Guests included 73 VIP

delegations from 45 countries/regions and

record participation by 25 Chiefs of Navy, as

well as numerable notable high-level

representatives. 28 foreign warships from 20

navies also took part in the IMDEX Asia 2017

Warships Display.

The sales team at The China Engineers, Limited (CEL – authorised Cat dealer for South China,

Hong Kong, Macao and Xinjiang) had been wooing Guangdong Provincial Telecommunications

Planning and Designing Institute (GPDI) over a period of time and have since, established a good

relationship with the company.

CEL made a break-through when it successfully secured the deal to supply power to GPDI’s Data

Centre project in Xinjiang Software Park. The award of the sales order of 2 sets of high-voltage

Cat 3516E (2,200 kW each) gensets to be installed as the main units powering the Data Centre,

signals the first collaboration between CEL and GPDI. It also reflects the high regard GPDI has for

brand Cat and its dealer, CEL – its premium quality, proven reliability and conformance to what the

project required. During the preliminary stage of contract signing, CEL’s Electric Power (EP) and

technical teams convened numerous meetings to provide for GPDI personnel opportunities to clarify

any queries they may have had. The decision was further fortified by CEL’s ability to provide

complete and high quality after sales services to the Xinjiang Software Park project. This further

validated GPDI’s choice where stability and reliability are crucial factors for their operations.

Work safely in a Zone 2 environment DNV-certified Haz Genset packaged by

Tractors Singapore Limited

Tractors Singapore now packages DNV-certified Haz gensets

Back in 2010, the world was shocked by the Deepwater Horizon explosion in the Gulf of Mexico

which took 11 lives, injured several and caused the spillage of millions of gallons of oil. It took a

man-made catastrophe of this scale for the oil industry to sit up and realise the critical need to

tighten controls on equipment used in drilling operations on the offshore platforms to protect those

working in an atmospheric explosive location, their investment and the environment.

Recognising the gap, Caterpillar® acquired Pyroban which specialises in engine protection in

hazardous environments. Authorised Cat® Dealer for Singapore, Maldives and Christmas Island-

Indian Ocean, Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) is one of the few dealers in the world which has

the capability to package Zone 2 gensets.

PhilMarine 2017 is the only specialised

Shipbuilding and Maritime exhibition in the

Philippines, which is currently the world’s

Number Four largest shipbuilding industry.

The 4th edition of the event brings together

an international congregation of shipbuilding

companies, maritime companies and

supporting industries in the capital of Manila

to showcase the latest shipbuilding

technology and equipment developments in

the maritime industry.

It was a great opportunity for the TSL team to introduce OXE Diesel Outboard to the key

stakeholders from the Coast Guard and Navies visiting from the region and farther afield.

OXE is the world’s first 200hp diesel outboard setting new standards for durability, fuel-efficiency

and low emissions for an outboard engine. Safety and speed is important for maritime defence

and governmental vessels at sea, and the diesel outboard engine is a superior and safer

alternative to petrol outboard engine due to its higher ignition point. Diesel’s better fuel economy

compared to petrol and higher torque are also distinct features which piqued the interest of

visitors to the booth.

The OXE iron and concept impressed and attracted many visitors during both shows.
