HydroMet is a pioneer in environmental processing technology, offering a solution to heavy industrial waste problems.

How we do this:

• Collect contaminant metals in by-product waste residues from a variety of smelters and industrial manufacturing processes;

• Recycle these residues using hydrometallurgical technologies developed in-house over three decades;

• Produce value-added metals or metal chemicals safe for agricultural, mining or industrial applications.

HydroMet’s technology provides an environmentally aware alternative to long-term storage or disposal of contaminant metal waste.

While at the same time producing a valuable end product for sale to Australian and overseas industries.

History of HydroMet HYDROMET CORPORATION PTY LIMITED

1984 Founded in Sydney as a research and development facility to investigate extraction and manufacturing processes.

1984 – 2012 Publicly listed on Australian Stock Exchange. Business activities expanded to include various project-based hazardous waste processing and resource recovery activities.

1989 Established HydroMet’s Southern battery operation plant on a 20,000 sqm site in Unanderra, approximately two hours south of Sydney.

1993 Established HydroMet’s Northern plant on a 35,000 sqm site in Tomago, approximately two hours north of Sydney.

2012 HydroMet was taken over by Simon Henry, a majority shareholder from New Zealand, in May 2012. The company was subsequently delisted from ASX and privatised.

2013 HydroMet took over Simstar Alloys plant in Laverton North, Victoria.

HydroMet’s expertise is in metal waste recycling. Our products and services include:

1. Recovering and Recycling Solutions HydroMet creates solutions for the recovery and recycling of metal contaminants from a range of industrial residues.

2. Treatment of Hazardous Residues HydroMet has developed effective processes for immobilising contaminants, enabling safe and environmentally acceptable waste disposal for landfill.

3. Processing of Gold and Other Precious & Rare Earth Metals bearing Concentrates and Residue HydroMet’s unique environmental processing technology has enabled speciality chemical and ‘toll’ treatment capabilities.

4. Treatment of Anode Slimes HydroMet has treated Anode Slime residues from various international companies including; Xstrata Falconbridge, Rio Tinto Kennecott and Vale Inco in Canada.

5. Metal Chemicals Manufacturing HydroMet manufactures a range of metal chemicals for both agricultural and industrial applications, including:

• Zinc Sulphate • Copper Sulphate • Selenium Powder • Tellurium Intermediate • Lead Metal concentrates – refined Lead • Precious Metal

6. Stanton Mine HydroMet has sole rights to this Cobalt bearing mining lease located in the Northern Territory spanning 115 square kilometres.

7. Western Australia Project HydroMet is currently developing a battery recycling operation in Perth, Western Australia.

Chempro Logistics Ltd, New Zealand

A specialist chemical packaging, warehousing and logistics company based in Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand. Chempro provides complete chemical solutions including repackaging, labelling, storage and distribution of dangerous and hazardous products on its licenced and fully equipped sites.

In 2012, Chempro bought out Exide battery recycling operation based in Petone, Wellington. The plant has been relocated to Chempro’s Wellington site.
