ABOVE ALL “A Work Ethic” August 4th, 2019
Col. 3:22 Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. 25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality. 4 Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. 4:1 Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
Differences in Slavery:
1. There were different motives behind slavery.
2. There was a difference as to how people entered slavery.
3. There was a difference in how people were treated once they became slaves.
Key Application Point: When Christ becomes “Above All” we must represent Christ at work!
a. When Christ becomes “Above All” we become faithful and
hardworking employees.
b. When Christ becomes “Above All” our work is done with integrity.
c. Our work ethic has eternal consequences.
d. When Christ is “Above All” an employer/boss become people who serve their employees with honor and integrity.
