National Scholarships (1000 4-yr Scholarships & 1000 3-yr Advanced Designee (AD):

Specialty Scholarships
Nursing Scholarships • Must be applying to/enrolled in schools of nursing programs; accredited
by an agency approved by the Secretary of Education and HQ Cadet Command
• Only HQs Cadet Command can approve a change of major, once enrolled on campus
– If contracted prior to requesting the change, cadet will be placed on Administrative Suspension for a minimum of one term (Cadet is responsible for payment)
– The Cadet may or may not retain scholarship, this will depend on whether or not funding is available
• Professors of Military Science (PMS) will counsel all Nursing Cadets in writing at the time of contracting to ensure they understand this policy
JROTC- Awarded through National Process to applicants that were in JROTC for a minimum of one year
HBCU- Awarded through National Process to applicants that are applying to an HBCU

STEM Scholarships• Science, Engineering and Mathematics degrees (Only certain Technology
Degrees)
• Only HQs Cadet Command can approve a change of major– If contracted prior to requesting the change, cadet will be placed on

Be between the ages of 17 and 26
Have a high school CGPA of at least 2.50
Have a high school diploma or equivalent
Score a minimum of 920 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores)
Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard

Centralized Board
Prospect can begin the application process after the completion of their Junior year on 12 JUN through the beginning of JAN of their Senior year
Prospect interviews with local ROTC program Jun (after Jr Year) – Mar (Sr Year)
HQ Cadet Command conducts up to 3 scholarship boards; approximate dates for FY 16 are:• 19 OCT 15• 18 JAN 16• 07 MAR 16
HQ Cadet Command mails letters and posts them to the online application for scholarship winners approximately 4-6 weeks after the completion of the board
Prospect receives offer letter and accepts scholarship offer to 1 of 5 school choices (must choose and submit to HQ Cadet Command within 30 days)
Those not selected will receive a letter after the completion of the last board

Applicants are required to submit an online application: http://www.goarmy.com/rotc/high-school-students/four-year-scholarship.html
Selects up to 7 school choices in priority order
Recommendation:• Create an application for yourself
• Notify the ROO at the school that you are “applying” to so they are not anticipating hearing from you
• You will receive the same email notifications that applicants receive
• DO NOT submit any documents
Only schools that offer the degree selected by the applicant are on the list of College/Universities of which to choose

HQ Cadet Command refer Interviewees to PMS/APMS• Interviewees are referred to 5 schools within their local
commuting area Purpose:
• Assess qualitative aspects of applicant• Provide information about Army ROTC• Eyes-on observation:
– Composure– Appearance - PMS conducts/confirms Ht/Wt– Verbal communications skills– Motivation– Overall potential
• Interviewer confirms PFT and transcript have been sent Applicants are also evaluated based off SAL (Scholar,
Athlete, Leader) criteria

HQ Cadet Command identifies up to 5 schools to offer to each winner

If an applicant does not get an offer at a school they wanted, they must go through Cadet Command to request a transfer
The applicant must accept a school on their letter and write the desire to use that scholarship at another school with the Letter of Acceptance from that Academic school, NOT the ROTC program

An eight-year service commitment with the Army
Serve full time in the Army for four years and four years with the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR)
