“This is my second Conference. I came back because I love to mentor, and talk to and meet women at the Conference. I also learn a lot from all the wonderful speakers that they line up for us.”

SEVEN INSIDER TIPS TO LATE STAGE COLLEGE PLANNING Chris Wills | President | College Inside Track

College is now the second largest purchase most people make in their lives, yet most know more about buying a television. The significant increase in cost and complexity has families desperate for answers. Late-stage college planning is a significant untapped opportunity for advisors to differentiate and provide tremendous value. This session will teach attendees seven insider tips on college planning that most advisors should know but don’t.

SEVEN PRINCIPLES OF NETWORKINGRita Goodroe | Founder | Rita Made Me Do It, LLC

The key to networking is effective relationship building. Whether you are an introvert or extrovert, you already have everything you need to build and leverage relationships. Master these seven principles and your networking will be more fruitful, sales will increase, opportunities will multiply and, most importantly, you’ll have a healthy relationship with your business.

WOMEN AND HOUSING WEALTH: FIVE CONVERSATIONS SHIFTING THE RETIREMENT INCOME LANDSCAPE Don Graves | President | The Institute for Housing Wealth Studies

With the current retirement income crisis facing baby boomers, particularly women, advisors need every viable resource to help their clients and sustain their practice. This presentation is filled with case studies and easily implantable concepts that will help advisors show how housing wealth can help their clients increase cash flow, preserve

assets, decrease risks, increase liquidity and add new investable dollars back into their savings. Advisors will learn where the reverse mortgage fits in their practice, how to identify clients who may need it, how to broach the subject and communicate the concepts, and how to seamlessly integrate it with other retirement income planning strategies.

COMMUNICATION: BRIDGING THE GENDER DIVIDEPeggy Bud | Founder | Speaking Skillfully

This session is a beginning step in understanding gender differences, building awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations. The training will highlight which communication behaviors are “hard-wired” and which ones are linked to “socialization.” These differences are the underlying cause of unconscious/implicit bias in the workplace. They directly impact recruitment, hiring, retention and advancement. Only through awareness and acceptance can there be a reduction in unconscious bias. Gender equality is a worthy goal but is difficult to accomplish when unconscious bias continues to permeate the workplace. Acknowledging this problem by talking about it is the best way to bring about change.

JUST FOR LEADERS: BUILDING THE BRIDGE FOR CULTURAL CHANGE: A MANDATE FOR 2020Meryl Rosenthal | CEO | FlexPaths

As the financial services/insurance industry faces unprecedented change and prepares itself to compete for customers and talent, several considerations must be addressed to ensure that firms are poised for this momentous shift. One critical consideration is extending the focus, resources and investments beyond the workforce (recruits) and marketplace (customers) to include the workplace (culture). This workshop will share stories, examples and new models of what is being done at the firm level to create progressive work environments and practices to boost recruitment, collaboration and retention.

BUILDING AN EFFICIENT CORE PORTFOLIO FOR ALL CLIENTS Craig Israelsen, Ph.D. | Executive-in-Residence | Financial Planning Program, Utah Valley University

The “core” of every portfolio can be predesigned, whereas the satellite portfolio elements are specific to each client. The key to survival as a financial advisor is to build prudently diversified and transparent portfolios that are efficiently priced and easily implemented. The 7Twelve Portfolio design accomplishes this. This session will teach attendees the logic and rationale for a predesigned portfolio “core,” the historical performance of a broadly diversified portfolio core and the next steps to actually implement this approach.

8:30AM – 9:30AMWOMEN & WEALTH: COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONSJane Blaufus, CLU | Best Selling Author | International Speaker | Business CoachThere is a changing face of wealth in North America. By 2026, women will control close to half of all accumulated financial wealth. This increase will be partially driven by a significant flow of inheritances to women of all ages. Not only are women managing significant wealth and cash flow, it is also predicted that, at some point in their lifetime, nearly 90 percent of women will be solely responsible for making the financial decisions in their household. Are we ready to work with this influential segment and are we equipped as financial advisors to have the necessary “courageous conversations” to provide the expertise and education to help other women deal with this impending financial tsunami? What are the implications for both the industry and financial advisors?

9:45AM – 10:45AM | EDUCATIONAL BREAKOUTS

A TALE OF THREE WIDOWSNancy Rash | Past WIFS National President

Statistics show that 70 percent of widows change financial advisors soon after their spouse dies, primarily because the one their husbands had didn’t “get” them. More than 1 million women become widows every year and will soon total 13 million. Without their spouses, many widows feel financially insecure, opening the door for financial predators. This session will discuss how to reach out to widows and will relay some “impactful empathy” with what to say or not to say to these grieving women.

PROVERBS FOR SELLING: MASTERING SALES THROUGH PROSPECTING, REFERRALS AND DISCIPLINE Tamara Bunte | Senior Facilitator | Institute for Advanced Results

Inspire sales professionals to take consistent, intelligent action to build their prospecting pipeline. They will learn how to take a classier approach to prospecting new clients and follow-up skills to actually get callbacks. This session is all about having an execution strategy. What do you say on the fourth voicemail when you’ve called an interested client three times and they haven’t called you back? How do you get the decision maker to actually call back and want to talk with you? How do you maintain a positive mindset while waiting on your commission checks? Your advisors will close more sales, and your team will increase productivity.

START THE DIALOGUE, BUILD TRUST & CLIENTS FOR LIFE Jane Blaufus, CLU | Best Selling Author | International Speaker | Business Coach

Working in your natural market as a new or seasoned advisor, building a client base from scratch and possibly doing it more than once, understanding what is really behind an objection and knowing how to address it are keys to developing clients for life. understanding of how to select the right people, create meaningful job descriptions, create measurable accountability and productivity goals, and compensate for results. Take away ideas that can be implemented within your organization to create and retain talent with Superpowers.

JUST FOR LEADERS: PSYCHOLOGY OF PERSUASION – MOTIVATING OTHERS TO BE THEIR BEST!Jennifer Webb | Founder | Magic Communications

Influencing individuals to remain inspired and motivated despite constant change and chaos can mean the difference between being successful and just getting by, between loving work and just enduring it. Influencing is about strategic and focused communication, reading nonverbal cues, utilizing emotional intelligence to defuse conflict and generate loyalty and trust, and dispel illusions around communication.

10:45AM – 11:15AM HIT THE TRAIL BREAKIt’s time to rev up before the last main stage session. Create your own mix of dried fruits and nuts to boost your energy.

Known for its creativity, Austin has something to offer everyone! From live music to outdoor activities and world-renowned barbecue, this city is as diverse as they come. You’ll find upscale dining and shopping, all in an area with trails and green space. Take in a quick history lesson at the State Capitol building, and explore the work of local designers and painters at one of the many galleries and world-class museums. And don’t forget to spoil your taste buds!

GETTING THEREAustin-Bergstrom International Airport is central Texas’ hub, offering live music and frequent flights from U.S. cities. Amtrak’s Austin Station located just west of downtown Austin also serves the area with passenger service to more than 20 US destinations.

CONFERENCE VENUE:RENAISSANCE AUSTIN9721 Arboretum Blvd. Austin, TX 78759

Located 18 miles from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the Renaissance Austin is beautifully appointed and perfectly located in the heart of Texas Hill Country, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, just a short distance from the excitement of downtown Austin. Additional perks include an indoor/outdoor pool and a cutting-edge fitness center, as well as great dining and an outdoor deck at Knotty Deck & Bar. You’re just a short distance away from The Arboretum at Great Hills and The Domain and Austin’s many attractions, including the University of Texas and 6th Street. Take advantage of the WIFS hotel group rate of $199/night. Visit wifsnational.org/conference to reserve your hotel room.

5 THINGS TO DO1. THE BLANTON MUSEUM OF ART The Blanton Museum of Art is one of the foremost university art museums in the country and holds the largest public collection in Central Texas. Recognized for its modern and contemporary American and Latin American art, Italian Renaissance and Baroque paintings, and encyclopedic collection of prints and drawings, the Blanton offers thought-provoking, visually arresting and personally moving encounters with art.

2. VISIT THE BAT BRIDGEFrom late spring to early fall, Austin becomes home to the largest urban bat population in North America. At sunset, get ready for an only-in-Austin experience: getting a peek at these nocturnal residents as they fly out from underneath the famous Congress Avenue Bridge. Between 750,000 and 1.5 million bats fly out near dusk.

3. EXPLORE THE CITYFrom guided walking tours of downtown to a three-hour walking tour of Austin’s best eateries to adventures on the Austin Duck, there are many ways to see the city. Find the tour that best fits your personality here.

4. TEXAS STATE CAPITOLStanding a stately 309 feet and modeled after the nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C., this is the nation’s tallest capitol building. Designed by architect Elijah E. Myers and constructed using red granite, the capitol took more than seven years to complete. It was finished in 1888, at a total cost of more than $3 million, an extravagant price even by today’s standards. The perfectly landscaped grounds reflect the languid pace of life under the Texas sun, inviting you for a quiet stroll or a lazy day under a tree.

5. LIVE MUSICLive music is everywhere in Austin. Musicians play everywhere from grocery stores to city council meetings. Mostly, you’ll find Austin musicians at clubs, coffeehouses, bars, taquerias, auditoriums and concert halls. Austin’s celebrated live music scene inevitably continues to change, and likewise stays the same. As venues come and go, two key factors somehow remain stable: an astonishing 250 or so places present live music here, and every style is represented.
