Link Education And PracticeVISION LEAP supports the professional and personal development of young people. We use participatory methods. We believe we can improve our society.  MISSION STATEMENT  LEAP connects the educational offer with the labor market.

BACKGROUND CONTEXT

 

·   Academic knowledge, personal and professional competences are all needed if to be competitive on the labor market.

·   Academic knowledge is not enough to prepare graduates for jobs. Employers require people with hands-on work experience.

·   There is limited or no communication between institutions, employers and students

 

SOLUTIONS

   Professional competences can be obtained through non-formal education activities such as: internships, volunteering, trainings, workshops, conferences . Internships and volunteering opportunities should be supported, or integrated in formal structures.

Companies and NGOs should offer a wide range of internships, trainings, volunteer opportunities.Those need to be more accessible and appealing for students.

Students – as future employees/entrepreneurs – need to know more about what they will be faced with when entering the labor market.

PURPOSE

– To promote non-formal education and establish it as a solution for increasing the level of employability among students and recent graduates

 

TARGET GROUPS 

– Students-Our main target are students from Bucharest.There are 12 other cities in the country we are working with.

– Other providers and supporters of non-formal education ; LEAP is a framework for promoting their initiatives to students and employers.

– Employers- the indirect beneficiaries of our initiative are the employers, they benefit in long-term as the future employees are better prepared

LEAP – activities

• LEAP official launching event (March, 31st ) – Employability guide

• LEAP in the Professional Consulting Centers in Universities – a partnership for improving services offered to students, by the students

• A research – developed in Romanian University Centers , analyzing the importance of non-formal education

• International links and recognition – gathering resources, identifying similar projects abroad, creating partnerships, initiating know-how transfer
