Auckland is an excellent place to practise your English, enjoy many of the outdoor activities on offer, and meet people from all around the world. LSI Auckland, founded in 1990, is located in the Central City overlooking Myers Park. LSI Standard 20· 20 lessons per week

· Beginner to Advanced levels

· Course length: 1-50 weeks

· Classes begin at 9 a.m. (4 lessons/day)

· 1 lesson: 50 minutes

· Age: 16 +

· Average 10 students per class (max 15)

· All Classes: General English, covering all aspects of the language - structures and skills: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, reading, with a strong emphasis on spoken communication.

LSI Intensive 30· 30 lessons per week

· Beginner to Advanced levels

· Course length: 1-50 weeks

· Classes begin at 9 a.m. (6 lessons/day)

· 1 lesson: 50 minutes

· Age: 16 +

· Average 10 students per class (max 15)

· Same morning class content as Standard 20

· Afternoon options include: Business English, Exam preparation (TOEFL iBT, TOEIC, IELTS), EAP and General English.

International SchoolYear (ISY)· 24 or 30 lessons per week

· Beginner to Advanced levels

· 24, 30, 36 or 48 week course

· 1 lesson: 50 minutes

· Age: 16 +

· Average 10 students per class (max 15)

· The ISY course is a long term course allowing you to really advance your English by at least 3-4 levels depending on how long you stay. It also allows you to prepare for at least one International English Exam. Studying on an ISY course provides the perfect preparation for further study at University, and improved employment opportunities.

· Participants: Maximum 5 per class

· Follow a carefully designed plan to develop general and specific communication skills, such as English for meetings, negotiations and lectures, telephoning, business correspondence, reports, memos, and presentations.

English for PilotsThis course covers all the ground theory required to gain a private or commercial pilot’s licence. Practical flying sessions can also be arranged with a partnerflying school at extra cost

· Standard 20 plus 5 or 10 individual lessons per week

· Course length: 4 weeks (20+10) or 8 weeks (20+5)

· Intermediate to Advanced levels

· ICAO compliant Subjects covered: Aviation law, Licensing for Flight/Radio/ Telephone Operators, Human Factors, Navigation, Meteorology and Aircraft Technology.

English for NursingThis course is ideal for students who wish to study for a Bachelor of Nursing degree or for nurses who wish to gain valuable work experience. In addition to lessons, you will have the opportunity to work part time in the Health Care industry.

· 30 lessons per week for 24 or 36 weeks

· IELTS score of 5.5 for 36 weeks and 6.0 for 24 weeks required

· General English / English for Nursing / IELTS prep.

· Academic English (afternoons)

· 20 hours a week paid work experience possible (weekends & evenings) Nursing English modules include: Language of the Hospitals, the Healthcare System, Health and Disease, Medical and Anatomical Terminology, Patient Assessment, Diet, Elderly Care, Alternative Treatments, and Medication.

· 3 modules taken Modules covered: Language and background to Language Learning and Teaching, Lesson Planning and use of resources for Language Teaching, Managing the Teaching and Learning Process. Students will be required to keep a portfolio.

LSI Intensive 24· 24 lessons per week

· Beginner to Advanced levels

· Course length: 12-50 weeks

· Classes begin at 9 a.m. (6 lessons / day for 2 days, and 4 lessons / day for 3 days)

LSI’s EAP programme also offers additional online learner-centred practice.

· Internships offered in various areas such as Administration, Advertising, Marketing & Sales, Media & PR, Retail, Travel & Tourism, Web Development

· Available to Working Holiday Visa holders

· Also available to Trainee Visa holders where the internship forms part of the holder’s University study requirements

Please note that in NZ it is possible to worklegally for 20 hours / week with a 6 monthStudent Visa, and an IELTS score of 5.0
