Welcome to the month of

DECEMBER

November was a great month! The children learned about the

United States of America in geography. In zoology, children

learned about Mammals, and in botany, the children learned

about leaves.

We would like to say “thank you” to all of the parents who

were able to attend the potluck and provide food and drinks.

Everyone enjoyed all the delicious variety of foods and the

children did a wonderful job performing songs for the parents

while dressed in their best crafted outfits. The children also

had so much fun creating personalized Thanksgiving placemats

to take home for their parents to enjoy in the Thanksgiving

years ahead.

In December we will learn about the continent of Antarctica in

geography, in botany about Pine Trees, and in zoology we will

learn about Reptiles.

Winter

Concert

Winter Concert

December. 17th @ 10:30am

The holiday season is such a wonderful and joyous time. In honor of this special

occasion the children of Learn and Play Montessori School will be performing in a

winter concert just for you. Each Classroom will hold their own performance located in their class. The school will be providing necessary accessories for the performance

but ask that our parents try to follow a dress code if possible.

BOYS please come in Black pants and a white shirt.

GIRLS please come in a holiday dress, Black stockings, and black shoes.

Please be advised for the safety of the children we do ask any parents who wish to take their children home after the event must notify the classroom teachers as well as

front desk. Please make sure you are signing your child out properly to avoid any

potential confusion.

Parent Observation Day & Parent- Teacher Conference

December is the month for family observations. Our purpose in inviting you to come and to observe your child is to

bridge the gap between home and school, we want you to learn a little bit about the world that your child

experiences at Learn and Play Montessori. A family member’s visit to the classroom is always a special occasion for

every child. Your child will become a host and you become a guest. Sometimes children do not display a “typical” or

normal work period while being watched, sometimes they just want to be with you, other times they want to show

you some activity or become excited to show you everything they know! We ask that you observe quietly, outside of

the activity area to assist in not disturbing the children’s environment. If your child wants to show you some activity,

he/she may work close to you.

You will probably have impressions and questions about what you observe. It might be helpful to take notes while you

are watching so your child’s teacher can discuss them with you at your parent teacher conference (An observation

sheet will be available to you upon arrival for your personal notes, please see your child’s teacher for more

information) we suggest you bring your notes to the conference to discuss any questions regarding your

observation. Before you leave, be sure to have a quiet, personal and brief good-bye with your child to mark the end of

a happy and illuminating experience!

Sign-up sheets for observation days as well as the Parent teacher conference have been posted in your child’s classroom, the

schedule for each will be as follows:

Learn and Play Montessori School has partnered with the alameda county comm unity food bank in the red barrel food drive. This is a great way to clean out your cupboards while also

giving back to our community by providing much needed food for families in need during the

holiday season.

Our food drive will begin on Monday, December. 1st and will conclude on Monday, January.

5th. Items that would be greatly appreciated would be:

- Canned meats and Fish

- Soups, Stews and chili

- Beans and Rice - Peanut butter

- Low-sugar cereal and oatmeal

The Red Barrel is available in the front lobby for all kind donation drop offs. Paper bags are

also available for multiple items being donated. Please let myself or Ms. Neeraja know if you have any questions or concerns, we thank everyone in advance for all generous

donations provided.

Don’t forget.. *Arriving to school is very important in order to avoid

disrupting the entire class. Please arrive to school by

8:45am and pick up at scheduled time (11:30/2:30);

additional charges will be applied and $2.00 per minute

after 6:00pm.

*We love celebrating children’s Birthdays, We just ask that

some rules be followed for the health and safety of our

students:

- Please No eggs, no nuts, and low sugar whipped cream

and frosting if you are providing a cake or cupcakes.

- Goodie bags should include Non-perishable items such

as erasers, Stickers, Pens/pencils, etc. Please refrain from

candies and sugars.

- Parents are invited to join the celebration and take

pictures. Birthday celebrations are celebrated at 10:30,

Please inform the front desk a couple days before so we

may accommodate you accordingly.

*It is very important ALL parents are signing In/Out

through our procare system, Each authorized persons

dropping off or picking up should have their OWN ID # and

Password, Please always follow these steps below:

-Enter Personal ID

-Enter Password

-Click on child's Picture for Sign-In or Sign-Out at this

time, on this date

-Click FINISH to complete procedure

-If you are informed the procedure did

not complete successfully, Please let front office know

right then so we may fix the problem.
