All praise is due to Allah; and blessings and peace be upon His Prophet
Muhammad who was sent as a mercy to all the world.
Reading and recitation of the Quran is of prime importance to a Muslim
and it is an important form of worship for which a Muslim can get
rewards in the Hereafter. It is noteworthy that the rst word of Quran is a
commandment to read.
The School section of Islam Presentation Committee feels great pleasure
in bringing out this simplied Book to non - Arab Muslims to help them
read Arabic and recite Quran.
This Book is presented on a step-by-step basis; starting with the sounds
of the letters, short and long vowels, combinations of the sounds and all
other spelling skills followed by various types of exercises that help the
students grasp these skills and which in all enable them to master the rst
steps of reading the Quran.
We hope that Allah make this book benecial for all non-Arab Muslims
and may Allah bless all who seek knowledge.

Sukoon is a mark placed above the letter .e.g. ( ) to bring the reader’s attention to
pronounce it with the letter that precedes it. It cannot be pronounced separately.
It has neither fatha nor kasrah nor dhammah.

1- In Arabic Language, the denite article - ( ل ) laam qamariyyah and laam shamsiyyah
-precedes the noun and it is connected to it in the form of ل The ل does not change
when written but its pronunciation depends upon the letter which follows it.

it is pronounced as Alif and is always preceded by fatha and there are no dots
below it .Sometimes we write a short Alif above it ( يس – ل – ل – يز – ) AlifهدMaqsoora is usually used to indicate feminine noun .e.g ( – الفضل ل ض أل ا ).
