Welcome to

Our world is incredible. There is nothing more powerful than

education, which is why our company, OrcaNation, is dedicated to supporting teachers in opening the eyes, hearts and minds of young students who, with the right

education, can help make more positive footprints on our planet.

OrcaNation’s series of educational modules, dive and adventure camps, extra-curricular/co-curricular

programmes (including dive ECA/CCA programmes), workshops and keynote speeches flawlessly integrate

with IGCSE, IB, NYAA and DofE.

We are reshaping systems to give children and moderators new experiences,

life-changing adventures, and a stronger connection with the Oceans, Planet and

Ourselves.

No adventure starts alone, so why not start

with us…

E D U C A T I O NAdventure Camps

We’ve found education through experience to be one of our most impactful and rewarding programmes. OrcaNation’s multi-activity adventure camps focus on land and ocean-based activities. Each unforgettable programme is intertwined with core messages such as the importance of conservation and sustain- ability, and the positive changes we can bring into our lives when we care for the Oceans, Planet and Ourselves.

There can be from 2 night / 1 Day programmes, up to one week, or residential.

We offer camps for multiple purposes. From team building and providing an introduction to service learning to raising awareness of the environment and conservation, and camps aligned to curriculums. We also conduct NYAA programmes at our site on Rawa Island.

We assist teachers to plan unique adventures filled with life-changing moments.

Dive Club or Emergency First Responder ECA/CCA Programmes

We run ECA/CCA Dive programmes for schools so students can become PADI certified to Open Water diver level and beyond. We can run these programmes in different ways depending upon the school’s requirements and term length. Diving builds confidence, independence and environmental awareness in students and gives them a pastime that will last into adulthood.

We run First Aid and CPR training under the PADI Emergency First Responder (EFR) course. The EFR course focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increases their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency. Students will learn basic skills in primary and secondary care as well as how to assess situations on how and when to react. One does not need to be a diver to sign up for this course and there is no minimum age requirement.

EcoDiver Course

The EcoDiver Course is a Reef Check citizen science programme that teaches

any certified diver with a passion for the marine environment how to monitor

reefs. Students will learn how to conduct standardised Reef Check surveys as well as

how to identify indicator fish families, invertebrates and substrates selected by Reef Check. It is an intensive 3-day course including lectures, assessments and 5 Open Water practice dives.

Once certified, students can participate in organised Reef Check surveys by third parties or organise their own surveys with other certified EcoDivers on any chosen reef and submit their results to Reef Check. These results, collected worldwide, provide valuable data in establishing the status of coral reefs and making informed marine management decisions.

What your students can expect: To gain confidence in their abilities through fun, educational, physical and

mental challenges. Explore the boundaries of independence in a safe environment. Understand their place within their school environment and the

environment as a whole, and to return to school with a greater understanding of themselves and their purpose.

Stronger connections and improved communication with peers. To expand on knowledge of our environment while having fun in the

process.

What you can expect: Our courses are not only designed for the wellbeing of students but to meet

the needs of teachers and supporting peers. All accommodation, food and beverage standards are vetted by OrcaNation

so you can be assured of high standards. We also offer a free of charge recce for key members of staff prior to the commencement of a school camp in selected locations.

We provide comprehensive insurance (medical and liability) for all programmes.

To ensure the highest safety and care, we offer a low instructor to student ratio.

Keynote Speeches & Workshops

To support our goal of connecting with over 3.7 billion young people on the planet, OrcaNation provides a series of aspirational talks and workshops. Designed to inspire all age groups, our powerful presentations specifically address current environmental and conservation topics and will leave listeners truly motivated.

One of our most popular keynote speeches is presented by OrcaNation Founder & Chief Orca, Jeroen van de Waal. Focusing on Jeroen’s first book, ‘Together We Can Turn Tides – A Manifesto to Save the Oceans, Planet and Ourselves’, his powerful speech draws on his professional experiences from the last 30 years, and on the fascinating, yet often frightening, facts and figures uncovered in the book. Jeroen’s enthusiasm for helping others make the right decisions about what they do with their time, what careers they choose, and how they live their lives is guaranteed a warm reception.

Enrichment Days

Enrichment Days provide the opportunity for students to take part in informative yet highly

enjoyable sessions centred around specific themes. These interactive days provide the opportunity to raise

awareness of important topics such as Microplastics or Ocean Conservation. OrcaNation has a network of like

minded businesses that we can bring together to create a day focused around themes such as

sustainability, conservation, education and mindfulness. as well as sustainable purchasing.

Receiving education in such areas contributes positively to the mindset and

skills of students and offers valuable insights into how each

of us can make better life choices.

Introducing LooLa X OrcaNation Camps

The LooLa Adventure Camps were established by Dr Marc van Loo and Ms Isabelle Lacoste in 1991. Since then, LooLa has become a trusted camp facilitator for many schools in SEA. With its offer of educational and adventure-based camps, LooLa helps to nurture confidence and independence in school students through a variety of outdoor activities such as kayaking, cooking and yoga. LooLa has a strong belief in giving back to the community which aligns strongly with OrcaNation’s mission, this paired with our shared belief in environmental education meant that a partnership between the two companies was a natural progression. We are excited to announce that OrcaNation is now running its own camps at LooLa! Bringing OrcaNation’s strong HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality) philosophy to the forefront, we will adhere to OrcaNation SOP’s including:

Ensuring a doctor is on-site for the camp duration. Providing OrcaNation Personal Floating Devices for all water-based

activities. Supplying OrcaNation First Aid equipment including AED, Oxygen and any

other safety equipment deemed necessary for the Camps. Our OrcaNation environmental philosophy will be the main focus of our LooLa based camps. Highlights include:

Safe Water Garden (SWG) implementation. This will be the cornerstone of the LooLa X OrcaNation camps and will include a full educational workshop and briefing on the SWG system before working within the local community to build versions of this life-saving system. The SWG system is recognised by UNICEF as an efficient, inexpensive solution to neutralising organic human waste providing safe sanitation for all. So far, LooLa has helped to implement 200 units in the neighbouring villages and together with OrcaNation, will extend this to reach even further afield.

An intertidal walk led by OrcaNation and resident Professor Henky. This will focus on the importance of Mangroves and Seagrass to the environment including the life it helps to sustain. The walk will include a Mangrove planting session and a chance to explore the ecosystems surrounding Camp LooLa.

E X P L O R A T I O N Our Locations While the world is our oyster, we focus the majority of our activities in our favourite locations including Rawa Island, Malaysia; Singapore; Komodo, Bali and Bintan, Indonesia.

Rawa Island, Malaysia Rawa Island is located on a beautiful coral island off the east coast of Johor, Malaysia, easily accessible from Singapore or Malaysia. Situated within the Sultan Marine Park, which is known for its unique biodiversity and the place to find one of the world’s best colonies of clownfish. The area is a magnet for marine biologists, divers and conservationists and the perfect base for pupils to learn and develop.

Singapore Singapore is the ideal setting for outdoor activities

and beginner dive courses such as PADI’s Seal Team and Bubblemaker programmes. There is a myriad of educational experiences to promote positive development and offer a deeper appreciation of our environment.

13

Komodo, Indonesia As one of the ‘7 Wonders of Nature’, a UNESCO World

Heritage site and home to the legendary Komodo Dragon, Komodo National Park is highly praised for its mesmerizing

cerulean waters, protected coral gardens and exotic marine life. Only a short one-hour flight from Bali, Komodo lends

itself perfectly to ocean and land-based adventure camps for pupils of all age groups.

Bali, IndonesiaThe island of Bali provides a superb variety of landscapes

for pupils to explore. We have run diving camps around Amed and are continuing to develop our programmes in

selected regions including North West of Bali - an area traditionally overlooked but a special place featuring natu-ral hot springs, laid back resorts and the stunning underwater

National Park around Menjangan.

Bintan Island, IndonesiaOrcaNation is delighted to partner with LooLa Adventure

Resort, Bintan Island, just a short boat ride from Singapore. Our OrcaNation facilitated programmes focus on educational and conservation experiences for students. Programmes include mangrove exploration and planting, trekking and orienteering, and building a safe water garden to enable waste to be safely disposed of.

Accommodation & Special Requirements All accommodation partners are vetted thoroughly by our team to ensure they meet our OrcaNation HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) standards. Before planning your itinerary, we will present you with

a variety of accommodation options to meet budgets and expectations. Once finalised, our team we will work directly

with the provider on details such as rooming allocation, plus any special requests including dietary

requirements.

A C T I V A T I O NSafety First

As experts, and as parents and peers, we treat the safety of every group and individual with the utmost priority.

Our robust safety measures include extensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for each ocean and land-based activity, without compromise.

We have Emergency Action Plans (EAP) for each activity site. All EAP’s will be provided prior to the commencement of any activity.

All OrcaNation team members have been trained as EFR (Emergency First Responders) and our Master Scuba Diving Trainers (MSDTs) are EFR trainers.

We have developed background checks in line with standards proposed by Tim Gerrish of International Child Protection Advisors, registered in the UK and advisors to many International schools globally. Our Safeguarding Leads have completed NSPCC training and our Child Safeguarding Officer is required to attend courses to remain current annually.

All our team go through Child Safeguarding Training annually and our Safe guarding Policy was developed in partnership with International Child Protection Advisors and a selection of our school partners.

We follow a strict HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality) standards with low instructor / student ratios to ensure the best experience.

All our equipment is less than three years old, serviced in line with manufacturers’ guidelines and checked (and replaced if needed) on a regular basis for wear and tear.

Extensive planning goes into each school trip to ensure it’s not only well-planned but well supported.

We complete post-programme reviews of everything we do to ensure that we are continually tweaking and improving our offering.

If you have any specific concerns regarding safety, we would be more than happy to answer these in detail.
