Keynote Event—SweetNote #1 June 10th - Dr. Ray Jimenez Don’t Choke the Learner – Context is King: Not Huge Data There is a lot of talk and hype about MOOCS, big data systems and re-produc on of content for massive delivery and analysis. The ideas are seduc ve. However, at the core of these systems, the learning method has not changed; they con nue to be data dumps. Enormous content chokes learners. Contrary to huge content, micro-content helps learners find immediate context and relevancy between learning and applica on. However, the challenge is “how to create mi-cro-content” from bulk content handed to us by SMEs, engineers, technical people and other providers of content. In this session, you will learn how to find and develop high-context, high-impact and immediately useful content for learn-ers to use on-the-job and off-the-job.

Keynote Event—SweetNote #2 June 11th - Dr. Art Kohn Boost Memory & Learning ROI— Crea ng a Stronger Workforce through Learning & Reten on Companies spend 20 billion dollars annually in training, but the results are disappoin ng. Research shows that li le is learned and remembered. As a result, training budgets con nue to shrink. Research at the University of Florida has proven that booster training provides great improvement in long term memory and this improvement can significantly enhance corporate ROI. In this hands-on seminar, a endees will learn to build booster training using free so -ware. These booster will reinforce both both their formal and informal trainings and within a week, your company trainings will be significantly more effec ve and you will get the credit. A well trained workforce is the lifeblood of suc-cessful organiza ons, and every year companies invest about 200 billion dollars on training. Unfortunately, employees retain li le and rarely express a measurable change in behavior. In fact, research shows that 1 hour a er a training ses-sion, people have forgo en about 70% of the informa on. And a er one month, they have forgo en 90%.

But there is hope. During the past 20 years, modern neuroscien sts have developed a series of cogni ve technologies that reinforce human memory and change the shape of the forge ng curve. This technology, which is known as the “retrieval prac ce effect” or “Booster Learning” provides a series of strategically med interac ons that reinforce previ-ously acquired informa on and make it more likely that the learner will both recall informa on and transfer that infor-ma on into the workplace.

Using a series of demonstra ons and ac vi es, Dr. Kohn will illustrate ways that you can drama cally improve your own memory and your companies training programs.

What’s Your Mix? It’s Not About a Course.  Building the Program –  A Camposium Exercise

Many mes, directors, managers, instruc onal designers and developers get stuck on building a course. Once complete, they move on to the next course. In today’s learning field, with so many channels of informa on, learning program archi-tecture must be honed to meet your learner’s needs. What processes and tools do you need to be successful? In this camposium discussion and learning exercise, learn about new mixes of tools and processes that could make you suc-cessful. Then it will be your turn to look at your learners and program, and begin to develop or update your own program, processes and tools. What’s your mix? The take away from this session is to make preliminary decisions on the following ques ons: What are my top 3 Learner goals of the next year? What are my ra os of Online Instructor-Led, eLearning, mLearning, and Documenta on? What processes, tools, and development skills do I need? What’s my 30-60-90? What’s your plan for over the next 30, 60, and 90 days

Mark Lassoff

So you want to make dynamic mobile applica ons, but you don’t want to learn the na ve toolkits for Android, iOS or even Windows 8? This course is what you’re looking for! With this HTML5 Mobile App Development course, you will learn to create HTML5 based mobile applica ons that can be sold in the Apple App store, the Google Play Store or other mobile marketplaces. If you know the basics of HTML, CSS and Javascript, you’re ready to take this exci ng workshop. Building jQuery Mobile Apps in DreamWeaver – A “You Build It” Session

Jeff Ba

When building web or na ve applica ons, it can be daun ng trying to learn new coding languages for various pla orms. Even if you are just targe ng web applica ons, it is s ll a lot of CSS to get the HTML to look good on both phones and tablets, and to get the effect you want you may have to spend hours learning CSS, JavaScript, and HTML. Even if you use a coding language such as jQuery, some mes it can be difficult to remember the code for what you want to build. The integra on with jQuery Mobile has been a lifesaver for the non-techie or even the techie that wants to get the task done quickly and efficiently. Adobe has made using jQuery within DreamWeaver extremely easy with CS versions 5.5 and above. You can easily insert tables, mobile bu ons, mobile view accordions, and more with a simple bu on click in DreamWeaver. In this session you will get up and running with jQuery Mobile and DreamWeav-er and learn how to build custom web apps using HTML and some JavaScript. These files can then be used on the web or wrapped up in Phonegap to be deployed as a na ve applica on for any Android, iOS, BlackBerry, or Windows mo-bile device. Andrè Chatelain

Have you moved beyond PowerPoint poison, spray-and-pray lectures, and sink-or-swim self taught training? Unfortu-nately these zero star trainings are the most prevalent methods of training. Typically subject ma er experts and train-ing managers worry more about how much content can be delivered than whether or not their training objec ves and goals are met. Five star training must be based-on sound instruc onal principles and proven learning techniques.

Telling Stories, Ge ng Results: The Power of Storytelling in eLearning

Diane Senffner

Cine Learning Produc ons envisions a world with a different kind of adult educa on. Think of a me when you when you were nearly lulled to sleep poin ng and clicking through a sta c, informa on-based eLearning course. Now, in con-trast, think of a great storyteller you have encountered; someone who brings events to life. Think of how you cling to every word in an cipa on of what will happen next. And best of all, you remember the en re story from beginning to end. eLearning is perfectly suited to story-based design. Using character-based scenarios, instruc onal designers may weave a story around their organiza on’s content so learners are able to be er relate to the material. Branched and progressive scenarios force cri cal thinking on the topic at hand and provide a more authen c assessment of the skill to be learned.
