Congratulations to all students from Year 1 to Year 6 for the great start that they have made to the 2018 school year. The students are very settled in their new classes and are working extremely well. This has been very pleasing to witness, as it has contributed significantly to an extremely smooth start to the year. Well done to all staff who have worked incredibly hard to ensure all students are placed in the best possible learning environment.

A very warm welcome to Mr Futcher, Miss Hemphill & Mr Ellis as they join our very dedicated teaching and leadership team at Bligh Park. Mrs Grech and Mr Futcher are relieving Assistant Principals for Stage 2 and Stage 3 and we welcome them both to the Leadership team.

On Monday morning, I met with Linda Strickland and Lynne Dunne from Hawkesbury Helping Hands which was very exciting, as the school is forming a partnership with this organisation.

The first of our projects was the delivery of ten new backpacks full of supplies, and around a hundred pairs of socks that went straight to those students who required assistance.

The second project is to re-establish our breakfast club. The breakfast club will operate two mornings each week, Monday and Friday from our school canteen with all supplies and voluntary assistance from Hawkesbury Helping Hands. This program is called Fuel for Learning.

I would like to thank Linda and her wonderful team for the assistance that they providing and look forward to developing this partnership.

School Photo Day

School photo day will be Tuesday, 6 March 2018.

To achieve the best result for class photos, students should wear full summer school uniform on this day – summer

check tunic and white socks for girls; sky blue shirt, navy shorts and navy socks for boys, including black shoes for both boys and girls, hair neat and tidy.

If your child is outgrowing their uniform and you were considering buying new ones, please get your order in quickly to allow sufficient time for orders to be received. Our uniform shop is open Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2.45 – 3.15pm, or alternatively, most items are stocked at Brynorms uniform specialists in Richmond.

Photo order forms will be sent home as soon as received from the photographers. Please note MSP Photography this year are requesting payment online using credit or debit cards from Mastercard or Visa. You must record the order reference number on the photo order form and return the form to the class teacher by Monday, 5 March. Late orders will not be accepted at school and any late orders placed with the photographer will incur a minimum late fee of $20 per order.

School Swimming Carnival The 2018 Bligh Park Public School swimming carnival is almost upon us. The carnival will take place on Tuesday, 13 February - we ask that students be at school and ready to depart by 8.45am.

This year non-swimmers and spectators will not be able to enter the water, however for students not competing we will be offering novelty events at various points throughout the day. Novelty events will be undertaken with teacher supervision on land and will include a range of water activities that will involve participating students getting wet.

To participate in the novelty events students will be required to have a rash shirt, hat, sunscreen, towel and a change of clothes.

Looking forward to a fantastic day.

Coles Sports for Schools is back and we need your support! Coles Sports for Schools is back and we need your help to get the most out of this program. The program aims to help Aussie kids stay fit and healthy.

When you shop at Coles, you'll receive Sports for Schools vouchers that you then bring into school and place in the Sports in Schools collection box in the school office. We then exchange these vouchers for sports equipment. The more vouchers we collect, the more sports equipment we will receive. So please start collecting because the race is on!

Welcome Bluey

Have you met Bluey yet? Bluey is our new Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) mascot. Soon you'll see Bluey up around the school reminding you to be safe, be respectful and be a responsible learner.

PBL is a whole school program that actively promotes positive behaviour. It enables students to develop a clear understanding of required expectations, become responsible for their own behaviour and work together to create a positive, productive and harmonious learning community.

Opal passes for 2018 travel

Just a reminder to all Busways student travellers, that you must tap on and off with your Opal card every time you travel to and from school by bus.

If you don’t tap on and off with your Opal card, an accurate number of students travelling to and from school cannot be recorded and this risks bus services being reduced as a result.

Thank you.

Just a gentle reminder to all of our

school community to please be

courteous to our neighbours and

please do not park across their

driveways.

Please be mindful of where

you park as parking

rangers often patrol around

this area.
