This course provides an introduction and overview of the Learning Services Lab Portal (LSLP). You will learn how to access the LSLP, schedule labs and manage student rosters for lab access.

Learning Services Lab Portal Overview

Recording Note for those who are not Direct-Delivery Learning Partner instructors:

You will not receive a Lab Credential email for students' credentials; each student will receive a Welcome Email for class, similar to your own, and can create their credentials and sign-in with the link in that email.

Accessing the Learning Services Lab Portal


Automatically sent to enrolled students and instructor 48 hours before start of class.

Sent to students email address used to register for course.

Sent from [email protected]

Username indicated in email

Click on link in welcome email to create password to access Learning Services Lab Portal.

Link in welcome email allows student or instructor to create password.

1. Enter desired password

2. Click button to create password.


Once password has been successfully created, login using new password.

Portal can be accessed directly once username and password have been created.

1. Use forgot password link on main portal login page.

2. Enter username and submit


3. Reset information sent to your email

4. Follow direction in email to reset password.


Users tab – Roster of enrolled students. Accessible by

instructor login only.

Labs tab - List of labs for enrolled class – Only populated once class

officially starts. Accessible by students and instructors.

Dashboard tab – List of student lab activity. Accessible by students and instructors.


Student Lab Scheduling and Accessing Labs


Click on “View Content” to see a brief overview

of the lab and to reserve a lab.

“View Content” provides brief overview of lab and access to scheduler


Click on “Reserve a Lab” to reserve and schedule the lab.

Overview tab provides the following:

Brief description of lab exercise

Lab exercise objectives

Lab diagram to topology drawing

Lab reservation and scheduling


The Scheduler allows you to start a lab as soon as possible or schedule to take the lab at a later time.


To schedule the lab for as soon as possible, click on the option to do so and click “Spin Up this Lab!”

Scheduler Confirmation message indicates when lab will be available. Email will be sent to user when lab is available.


To schedule the lab for a future date and time, click on the option to do so.

1. Select date and time. Note: Lab cannot be scheduled outside course start and end time.

2. Click Reserve

3. Email sent to user when lab is available.


Lab Access Email

Follow direction in email to access lab.

Labs are timed and timer starts when lab access email is sent.

Lab Information tabs


1. Click “End Session”

2. Some labs have multiple options for ending the lab. Choose the appropriate one to end the lab.

NOTE: You must end the lab session in order to properly terminate it and save your configurations for later use. Closing the browser does not end the lab session.


1. Select lab from Labs List

2. Click “Reserve a Lab”

3. Scheduler detects saved lab environment. Select option to use saved lab or start new lab.

4. Schedule lab.


Viewing Lab Dashboard


Dashboard Tab

Accessible by both students and instructors

Students can view only their own lab activity; Instructors view all students’ lab activity

Click on Student name to view all lab details for student.

Student Roster

Link to view all recent lab information for this

student


Click on Student name to view all recent lab activity for student.

View Student Lab Activity Details screen:

Instructors only: can cancel future labs for students, if the labs have not started yet.

Instructor Management Portalaccess:

If labs have VMs thatare accessible throughthe portal, this button will be shown to instructors


Managing Student Rosters


Users Tab

Accessible by instructors only

Roster is for lab access only

Add/change student email addresses used by lab portal

Resend lab portal welcome email

Schedule labs for students.

Course ID and Instance

Student Roster


1. Record Instance ID

2. Click “Create Student Lab Account”

3. Complete student information including Instance ID.

4. Click “Create Student Account”. Student will appear in roster list once page refreshes.

5. Click on ‘Resend Welcome Email’ button for user, to send email to setup credentials to access the portal .

Student names cannot be modified or changed. Only email addresses can be modified or changed. Changes only affect lab portal login information.

1. Select Student and click “Edit” next to email address.

2. Change/Update email address

3. Click “Resend Welcome Email”. Welcome email will be sent to updated email address so student can setup username and password.


Instructor Lab Scheduling


Instructors can schedule labs for students Schedule same lab for all

Schedule different labs for different students

All instructor scheduled labs will have the same start time.

Only one lab per student can be scheduled at a time.

1. Select lab for student

2. Select time and date to start labs

3. Click “Spin Up Labs”. Students will receive lab access email when lab is available.


Same lab for all users, same start time.

Different lab for different users, same start time.


Lab Reservations

Confirmation provided when “Spin-Up Labs” is clicked.

Confirmation provided for each lab started for students; notification provided if a lab could not be scheduled for a student.

Lab access email sent to students when the lab is ready.

Allotted lab time starts at beginning of reservation time.
