    • To apply the principals of v-Schools to Wellsway School
  • 3. Aims
    • To encourage students to help in the community.
    • To teach them the value of being active and productive members of the school and the wider community.
    • To promote Wellsway School and her students as the outstanding school at the heart of the community that it is.
  • 4. Outcomes
    • v-Wellsway intends to help students learn how to:
    • Take action in the local communities
    • Understand the Olympic Values in practice
    • Learn and build on the importance of school and the wider community
    • Teach young people how to strengthen their role in society by harnessing their time, talents and ideas
  • 5. Benefits for Students
    • An award after they have contributed x hours
    • Gain valuable skills and learn about their communities
    • Encourage them to become active citizens
    • Cultivates a spirit of service
    • Raises awareness about the needs of people from different sectors of society
  • 6. Benefits for Wellsway
    • Its free
    • Its fun
    • It creates a database of our schools achievement
    • It further raises the profile of an Outstanding School in the Heart of the Community
    • It celebrates students and the schools achievement
    • It builds relationships with the local community
    • It brings learning to life!
  • 7. Background
    • There is a lot of voluntary activity amongst students at Wellsway
    • Students in Yrs 9 and 10 (now 10 and 11) did a survey for me over the summer term to show what is already happening
    • Lots of enthusiasm from a range of students already
    • v-Schools worked on a National Credit system and also existed as a database and agency for students doing or wanting to do voluntary work. 1 voluntary activity = 1 v-school credit.
  • 8. Timescale
    • To set up v-Schools with Learning To Lead. Initial work has already begun, and the Learning to Lead training days for staff are in February.
