available to students who wish to follow a
practical Leaving Certificate programme
with a vocational focus.

It is a practical Leaving Certificate
programme which places particular
emphasis on preparation for the world of
work and life-long learning.

practical where students apply their
knowledge, skills and experience to real-life
situations in school, home and the wider
community.

The programme provides a wealth of
opportunities which enhance the self-
esteem and confidence of students.
HOW IS THE LEAVING CERT APPLIED AWARDED?
❖Continuous Assessment:
✓ Completion of modules in each course
✓ Credits awarded – each of the four sessions
✓ Credits only awarded having achieved the following:-
oSatisfactory completion of modules – class work,homework and key assignments.
oAttendance
HOW IS THE LEAVING CERT APPLIED AWARDED?
❖Continuous Assessment:
✓Completion of seven Student Tasks
o Task = a practical project activity where learning isapplied from across all elements of the programme.
o Assessment of task = completion of task, evidence viatask report and interview.
HOW IS THE LEAVING CERT APPLIED AWARDED?
❖ Final Examinations:
✓ Seven terminal examinations.
o One written exam (including oral exam) – end of year 1.
o Six written exams (including two oral exams) – end of year
2.

Completions of modules: 62 credits 31%
Student tasks: 70 credits 35%
Final examinations: 68 credits 34%
