ACTIVITIES OF OUR ASSOCIATION 2017-2018
Every day, our volunteers, all over Lefkada, leave work and family to
help animals that are in need.
Meet the strays we take care of, the lucky animals we gave away for
adoption and those that are still waiting for a home. This brochure
includes photos that show only a small part of our work, as it was not
always possible to make photos during emergencies (some animals were
not that "photogenic”, volunteers did not have a camera, or in many
cases photography did not work well due to bad conditions (darkness,
rain, etc.).
On this occasion, we would like to express a Great Thank You to our
volunteers.
Also, a Great Thank You, we owe to all animal lovers who support us
with all their kind donations, without the help of which the club could
not exist.
We particularly like to thank the veterinary surgeon of the Municipal
Veterinary Hospital. Without his support the sterilization programs
would not have been possible to be carried out.

Sterilizations - vaccinations – marking, at the Municipal
Veterinary Hospital, Lefkas Our Association is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the
Municipal Veterinary Service, as well as for the implementation of the
programs, some of which are also funded by donations to our
association.
In 2017 three sterilization programs were carried out. In 2018, until the
present publishing, a program has been carried out and we hope that we
will soon be able to organize a second.
During the programs for the last two years, 180 cats and 58 dogs were
sterilized and marked. At the same time, the animals were vaccinated.

Other activities : Taking advantage of our experience we gained since the foundation and 5
years of running the municipal veterinary office of Lefkas, the first municipal
veterinary office operating in Greece, according to the current legislation, we
have developed a manual for the setting up of a municipal veterinary surgery.
Thus we can help municipalities and associations throughout Greece, to set up
their own municipal veterinary surgeries or offices.
Many municipalities and associations took advantage of this opportunity.
The first was the Paxos Municipality. After that followed dozens of other
municipalities, that either already operated with their vets or had their
veterinary surgery under construction.
The manual is also available in English, translated by the Kefalonian association
KAT. For those who are interested in more information, please contact us at
Facebook under the username “laws.lefkada” or at www.lawslefkada.gr
