9 September 2015,
London, UK
VENUE
Global Legal ConfEx
The Law Society of England
and Wales, 113, Chancery
Lane, London WC2A 1PL
EVENT CONCEPTUALIZATION: WHY LONDON?
Adverse business conditions have been something that
the UK has eventually become resilient to and the nations'
legal sector has also fairly accommodated to this
situation, and in fact has almost always emerged
stronger, even in the face of the recent challenges that
confronted the economy on the whole. In this scenario,
London has emerged as one of the major prime locations
for investments pertaining to the legal sector. While legal
rms with their headquarters in foreign nations are
willing to enter the UK, the domestic legal sector is
undergoing a swift transformation owing to the fact that
rms are capturing scale through consolidation and even
commencing new business. The new players, not
belonging to legal sector are also looking forward to
building alliances in this segment so as to participate in
the varied models of businesses to deliver legal services.
Held in the September of 2015, this conference was
planned to bring forth a whopping 225+ key lawyer
participants both, from within the UK and outside. This
event provided the participants with an unmatched
platform to discuss the various challenge beings faced by
the legal sector, and how these challenges were
overcome by various business. The participants were also
offered an unprecedented opportunity to meet and greet
people from various walks of the legal world.

9th of September was the stipulated date for
the Legal ConfEx, London, but for Events 4
Sure the preparations kick-started way before
that. For a mega-event like this one, it takes
more than just careful planning. It takes weeks
of constant deliberation and meticulous
execution so that everything, be it the
management of the guests or setting-up of the
venue is carried out with complete perfection.
But for Events 4 Sure, it is more like a child's
p lay, t hanks t o ou r on - s i t e t eams '
un impeachab le ded i ca t ion and the
willingness to go that extra mile in order to
exceed the expectations of one and all. Come
the dawn of September, the 9th and the on-site
team was all set to take the event hands-on.
Right from carrying out the registration on the
front desk, to handing over the welcome kits to
them, and nally ushering them towards their
choice of panel discussions, it was all carried
out with stupendous precision.

The event was conscientiously
planned to cover as many fresh and
relevant subjects pertaining to the
legal set-up in the nation and
elsewhere. It was for this reason that a
total of 4 halls were assigned for it,
wherein each hall hosted either a full-
edged panel discussion or a
phenomenal master class, each on a
scrupulously picked subject. Right
from the time that the participants
started pouring in, they were given a
detailed schedule of the topics of
these discussions and the master-
classes, and were left free to choose
the Hall of their liking. Each session
lasted for approximately 40 minutes
packed with untapped thoughts,
impressive ideas, and an unequalled
ow of knowledge.
In the rst session of the day, 4 panel
discussions were held simultaneously,
on topics of varied nature including,
Anti-Corruption Boot Camp, The
Changing Landscape of Law Firm
Growth Content; Compliance Risk in
the Digital Age (Cyber Security,
Privacy and Data) and A View from
the Top: Compliance and the C-Suite.
Though distinct in nature, the four
discussions had one thing in common
and that was the quest to nd answers
to the numerous questions that kept
popping up in the very curious minds
of all the participants. Luckily for
t h e m , t h e i r h u n g e r f o r t h e
quintessential knowledge-bites was
more than satiated.
The second session witnessed a total
of 3 panel discussion whereby
subjects related to the managerial
avenues of the legal sector were
thoroughly pondered upon. These
subjects included Trends in Legal
Technology, Better Decision Making
through Analysis of Litigation Risk, Risk
Management in the World of Mobile,
Technology and Social Media - all of
which are highly relevant in today's
changing face owing to the fast paced
advancements in technology and the
dynamic trends exhibited by the World
Wide Web and mobile applications.
The session also held a master class for
which the chosen subject was - 'The
Modern GC: Is Tax Risk still just a matter
for Finance and Tax?' Here the nitty-
gritty of payments of the right amount of
taxes, risk management and practical
issues of the likes of managing a tax
enquiry were discussed in great detail.
It was only after an hour long break for
lunch that the participants were again
up and ready to brainstorm on various
subjects that were slated to be discussed
during the third session of the day.
While the two panel discussions in this
time slot were held on the topics -
'Creating an Anti-Fraud Culture in your
Organ i za t i on ' and 'Con t r a c t s
Management and Compliance', the
session also had a couple of master-
classes for the participants with an
higher inclination to learn from the
pioneers of the industry. While the
master-class in Hall A threw light upon
the extremely wide yet fascinating
subject of 'Insights into International
Arbitration', the one in Hall B concerned
'Developments in Private Antitrust
CROSSROADSLitigation'which again caught the
interest of many a participants.
It was now time for the last session of the
day, but seeing the unwavering
enthusiasm of the participants and the
speakers alike, one could have easily
mistaken it for being just the start. This
session, quite like the rst one, also
comprised of 4 panel discussions held
in 4 distinct halls of the event venue. The
members in the rst hal l were
exchanging their thoughts regarding
'C loud-based Data Pro tec t ion:
Integrating Growth From Bottom to
Top', a topic that has recently surfaced
given the extreme crunch in the digital
space that is likely to pose a threat to the
protection of the data store on cloud.
Hall B, on the other hand, discussed
majorly about 'Litigation Finance &
Funding: Business, Legal and Ethical
Issues'. Given the tremendous rise in
litigation funding in the global market,
a detailed discussion on its funding was
rather imperative. The 3rd and the 4th
hall held discussions on Technology's
role in Mitigating Risk and Re-
engineering Corporate Boards to better
Manage Risk, respectively. While the
former was more inclined towards
dealing with the inherent risks on a
larger platform, the latter concerned
the challenges and the plausible ways
to overcome them within the systematic
framework of an organisation.

While the thirst for knowledge and information was
successfully catered to, the hunger pangs and had stated
their dance and inevitably so. And as always and Food
and Beverage Management team was well-prepared for
this. We laid out a grand lunch and a sumptuous one at
that. While refueling their systems, our delegates did not
miss the opportunity to have a tête–à–tête with the key
members of the industry who were also a part of this
event. Several visiting cards exchanged hands, and key
alliances were made, all thanks to the large, unmatched
platform that this event offered!

Ernst Hemingway once said, “It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters,
in the end.” And for all we know, this is exactly what we experienced and so we can say for our
stakeholders as well. While the Events 4 Sure team did put in an immense amount of efforts to calibrate
the Legal ConfEx, London - at the end it all seemed like a perfectly orchestrated event. Of course, none of
it would have been even remotely possible without the unwavering support of our sponsors, the
impeccable thoughts and ideas of our speakers and the almost contagious enthusiasm of all the
participants of his mega event. Not to forget the extensive research and management work carried out by
countless behind-the-curtain professionals, who did i t al l with utmost dedication.
In the end, Events 4 Sure would sincerely like to thank every individual associated with this Global Legal
ConfEx, London and hopes to continue this relationship for a long time to come.
CONCLUSION
THANK YOU EVERY ONE FOR MAKING
THIS EVENT A GREAT SUCCESS.
