Incident LightThe entire incident light axis is automated and featuresmotorized aperture and field diaphragms that allows fullreproducibility of the illumination conditions. This ensuresunsurpassed security in all QC/QA or failure analysisprocesses. The 4-position reflector turret is also motorizedand accommodates optical components for all incident lightcontrasting techniques. Two reflector positions have wideropenings for the insertion of darkfield or Smith reflectors.

Incident Light BrightfieldIt’s never been so easy to use a microscope: just put thesample onto the stage and focus. The Leica DM4000 M andDM 6000 M recognize the chosen objective, accurately opensand closes the aperture and field diaphragms and adapts thelight intensity according to the objective and contrastingtechnique selected.

Incident Light DarkfieldThe darkfield block is situated on the reflector turret and ismoved into the light path with a single button click. Alldiaphragm settings and the lamp intensity are automaticallyadapted to this change in the contrasting mode.

Incident Light PolarizationIncident light polarization contrast is either manual orautomated. In the automated version, the polarizer andanalyzer are on a POL-reflector on the motorized reflectorturret.

Incident Light Interference Contrast (ICR)With the Leica DM4000 M you have the choice betweensemiautomatic or purely manual ICR operation. To avoidoperator errors, the correct prism for the chosen objective isindicated in the display. This is simply slotted into the lightpath. The field-proven ICR system of Leica Microsystems onlyneeds one prism for most objectives, saving time and money.Depending on your application, you can decide for yourselfwhich is more important – contrast or resolution. Working withthe DM6000 M the operator only needs a single button clickto switch the objective prism, the polarizer and the analyserinto the light path within less than 0.5 seconds.

Leica HC opticsPrecise imaging of submicron geometries demands themaximum in optical performance, with optimized resolution, contrast and working distance. The HC N PLAN, PLANFLUOTAR and PLAN APO objectives are designedexclusively for this purpose. Made of new, highly refractiveglass types with apo- and semiapochromatic correction, theyfeature multiple antireflection coating and perfect imageflatness across a full 25mm field of view.

New 1.25x Scanning ObjectiveThe new 1.25x overview objective has been speciallydeveloped for a fast overview on the sample. Due to the lowmagnification several dies can be seen with at a single glance.Outstanding field depth, brilliant resolution and perfectlyhomogeneous illumination ensure excellent results for imagesgrabbed at low magnifications.

Leica N PLAN L, PLAN FLUOTAR L special objecitvesThe objective series N PLAN L CORR and PLAN FLUOTARL with magnifications of 20x, 40x, 50x, 63x and 100x weredesigned for high demanding semiconductor applicationssuch as masks with pellicles, inspection of bonded chips andLCD inspection. Besides extremely long free workingdistances, these objective offer exceptionally high numericalapertures, excellent resolution and outstanding crisp, brightand contrasty images for all illumination techniques. The term„CORR“ designates objectives with variable coverglasscorrection, which are particularly suitable for inspecting LCDs.

Secondary magnificationCombining the Leica DM4000 M or Leica DM6000 M withthe magnification changer module a secondary magnificationsystem with increments of 1x, 1.5x and 2x is achieved, resulting in total magnifications of 12.5x up to 5000x.

ComfortThe DigitalMicroscopes Adapt to You in Every WayThe new adaptable tube can be perfectly matched to everyoperators size and posture. The user can reach the focusknobs with his hands resting on the table. The new 6 x 6“stage with the integrated overview movement mechanismallows fast, precise and easy scanning of the entire sample. So no matter what is examined, the operator is completelyrelaxed – even if he sits at the microscope for hours at atime.

Variable Function KeysThe operator or a supervisor can assign any desired functionto the six function keys on the base of the microscope. Dueto their convenient position behind the focus wheels, frequentlyused functions are always within easy reach. Highest usercomfort was the key element for this development.

Cleanroom class 1Conformity with cleanroom class 1 has been achieved by theencapsulation of all motor driven parts, e.g. the objectivenosepiece, and by use of special non-gasing paints. Due tothe automation of all important microscope functions, nomanual adjustments are necessary in the vincinity of thesample.

The viewing angle and height of the new AET22 adaptable tubecan be individually adjusted to your sitting posture and bodysize. Plus you can vary the length of the eyepieces to suit theposition of your arms.

6 variable function keys (3 on each side of the DM4000 M andDM 6000 M) allow easy switching e.g. between contrast modes

Fast and reliable: the quintuple objective nosepiece of theDM4000 M. One step further is the motor driven objectivenosepiece of the DM6000 M

Fast and reliable: The sixtuple objective nosepieceThe coded objective nosepiece of the DM4000 M takes up tosix objective lenses. The nosepiece coding is directly coupledto the illumination management in that way, that anyreadjustment of light or diaphragms does not need to becarried out by the operator. The motor driven objective nosepiece of the DM6000 M alsotakes up to 6 objective lenses which are selected directly andturned into the light path in less than 0.5 seconds forneighboring positions. A single button click of the operator isenough to change the objective magnification, to adjust thelight, the aperture- and the field diaphragm.

Wherever You Look: An Impression of ClarityAll the settings of the Leica DM4000 M can be reviewed at aglance in the clearly laid out display: the contrast technique, the objective, the aperture and field diaphragm and the lightintensity. Reproduceable results are easier than ever before.

IntelligenceAutomationThe integrated automation of the new DigitalMicroscopesDM4000 M and DM6000 M guarantees ease of use, cleanlinessand superior ergonomy and virtually eliminates most possibleoperator errors.

Automatic Adjustment of the Light SettingsThe light intensity is automatically set to the light-gatheringcapabilities of the objectives. This means that the brightnessof the specimen image remains constant when you switch toa different objective – and there´s no danger of glare. Becauseevery inspection has its own specific requirements, you canadjust the light intensity individually.Additionally the new DigitalMicroscopes automaticallyrecognize the contrasting technique and objective that arecurrently in use. There’s no need to adjust diaphragms – unlessyou choose to.

Everything you see in the display is stored automatically. All your results can therefore be reproduced at any time.

Control everything via Touch ScreenThe touch-sensitive LeicaScreen of the DM6000 M providesspecial comfort. Not only can all settings be viewed at aglance, but in addition, the clearly-arranged menue structurequickly guides you through the menue pages and allows youto control all motorized modules of the microscope.
