How to read a Map
• Check the direction of the map.
• Understand the map scale. (The relationship between distances on the map and real distances.
• Identify the latitude and longitude.
• Read the contour lines. (The closer together the steeper the landform. The further apart the flatter the landform)
• Examine the legend. (Understand what the symbols on the map mean.)
