What are CAPM and PMI?

CAPM: Certified Associate in Project Management PMI: Project Management Institute PMI is an organization. CAPM is a certification. PMI conducts CAPM Examinations. CAPM certification is valid for 5 Years. PDU: Professional Development Unit PMBOK: Project Management Body of Knowledge PMBOK is a Text Book for the CAMP Exam.

Pre-requisites for the CAPM Exam

Option College / University Education

PM Training Project Experience

One Secondary diploma (High School diploma/global equivalent)

1,500 hours of professional experience on a project team

Two Secondary diploma (High School diploma/global equivalent)

23 hours of formal project management education

REP: Registered Education Provider Application can be submitted online PMI sends Authorization letter A candidate should appear for the exam within one year of receiving the

Authorization Letter.

About the CAPM Exam

Total number of Questions: 150. But, out of these, 15 questions are pretest question for future examination. Only 135 questions are scored. PMI grades students on each of the chapters and based on this grading they declare a pass or fail. The grading used is: “Below Proficient”, “Proficient,” and “Moderately Proficient” in each of the five process

groups. Total duration of the exam is 3 hours. There is 1 Point for every right question. There is no penalty for wrong answers.

There are 10 Knowledge Areas. They are: Project Integration Management Project Scope Management Project Time Management Project Cost Management Project Quality Management Project Human Resource Management Project Communications Management Project Risk Management Project Procurement Management Project Stakeholder Management

There are 47 Project Management processes. For example, “Develop Schedule” is one of these 47 processes, which is part of the “Planning” process group and is also part of the “Project Time Management” knowledge area.
