Turn to page 1 “Brain Map”Divide the opposite gender’s brain into different areas you think they spend time thinking about. Use color pencils.Answer questions at bottom of page 1.


Class Discussion Questions:1. Why do people tend to stereotype gender behavior?2. Are there real differences in how boys and girls

think? What are some of those differences?3. Do you see some of these differences at home, with

your friends or with someone you might be going out with right now?

4. Why might boys and girls think and act differently? Is it cultural? Is it biological?


Hormones: chemical messengers in the body.Testosterone: main sexual hormone for boys.


Chromosomes: strands of DNA. Each chromosome contains genes that tell your body how to form you.

The frontal lobe is one of the last areas to be “wired.” – completed. – hence, difficulty with feelings & problems.

Boy brains appear to be better at motor skills at a young age.
