Design Objects• Design objects include text boxes, lines, arrows, and callouts.

• Design objects are placed on a draw layer.

• The draw layer is an invisible layer that is separate from the worksheet data.

• An autoshape is a common, recognized figure, shape, or outline.

Once you have selected your tool and click on the screen, a box may appear as shown here. This gives you the option of inserting the object in that box.

All you have to do is press the [ESC] key to make the box disappear.

Common Features of Most Objects

Selection handles - small white circles surrounding the shape’s bounding box.

Adjustment handle – a yellow diamond used to change the appearance and design of the shape; each shape has its own type of adjustments. This will not show until you click the bounding box, which will turn to dots instead of slashes.

Rotation handle – a green circle that acts as a wand to rotate an object.

A bounding box – a rectangle outline around an object.
