Lección 13 - The demostratives1 Los adjetivos demostrativos se usan antes de un sustantivo para señalarlo y
concuerdan con dicho sustantivo en número.
This [este, esta] These [estos, estas]
That [eso, esa, aquel, aquella] Those [esos, esas, aquellos, aquellas]
● This boy is sad because the sky is gray● These girls are happy because the sunset is beatiful● That girl is sweating because the temperatures above 30º Celcius degrees● Those children are cold
2 Los pronombres demostrativos siempre se refieren o reemplazan a un sustantivo mientras lo señalan, ellos son:
This [éste, ésta, esto] These [éstos, éstas]
That [ése, ésa, eso, aquello, aquella] Those [ésos, ésas, aquellos, aquellas]
● They want to see this● He loves that● I am working with these
3 Cuando un pronombre demostrativo se refiere a un sustantivo mencionado con anterioridad, usaremos “this one” y “that one” únicamente en singular; donde “one” representa el sustantivo que no se quiere mencionar de nuevo.
● You like that shirt or this one? Te gusta esta camisa, o esa?
● Do you want these flowers or those? Quieres estas flores, o esas?
● Do you want that car or this one? Quieres ese carro o este?
Nota:
Al usar adjetivos comunes sí podemos usar los términos “one” para el singular y “ones” para el plural.
● Which shoes do you prefer? Cuáles zapatos prefieres? The black ones or the white ones Los blancos o los negros
