LESSON 2 – Understanding the Major Views of Bible Prophecy

WEEK 3: THE PREMILLENNIAL VIEW

Millennium means a thousand years. In the Scriptures, the millennial kingdom is that phase of the kingdom of God where Jesus Christ reigns. There are several views that have different conclusions about the Millennial Reign of Christ. Our view of the world is colored by which millennial view we embrace.

And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand

years. 6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

WEEK 4: THE AMILLENNIAL VIEW

Amillennialism was developed as an alternative to Premillennialism and is characterized by some basic elements. Many believe that the kingdom of God was founded by Christ when he first came to earth, and it will be revealed in its fullness in the life to come. They believe that the world is growing worse and will be at its absolute worst when Christ returns.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. 19 "Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.

WEEK 5: THE POSTMILLENNIAL VIEW

When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth — Gog and Magog — to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth

and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them.

WEEK 7: THE KINGDOM OF GOD

God is the Eternal King who rules now and shall rule in the future. It is in the kingdom of God that the purposes of God are fulfilled. The normal use of kingdom indicates a domain with a sovereign ruler over a people and a territory where the governing takes place.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is

yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.
