Case Study 1

Mary is 87 years old. She has suffered Parkinson's.

She used to eat on her own however she has shaking

tremors in her hands which has prevented her from

eating.

How can we promote her independence?

Weighted cutlery are used in health and care settings.

They are heavier than normal cutlery therefore reducing the amount of shaking from a persons hand.

John is 56 years old. He lives alone.

he has suffered a serious car accident and has

ended up being paralysed from the waist down. He is

currently bed bound as he can’t walk.

he needs help to be able to daily activities however

he wants to be as independent as he can.

body. She wants to follow all traditions of Muslim
