TEACHERS LESSON PLAN
ThemeMATTER IN NATURE
Learning area3.0 MATTER
Learning objective3.2 The Three States Of Matter
Learning outcome(Student able to)1. State that matter is made up of particles,2. State the three states of matter,3. State the arrangement of particles in the three states of matter,4. State the differences in the movement of particles in the three states of matter.
Learning activity-Engagement-Exploration-Explanation-ElaborationEngage:1. Teacher review what is matter. Student write a full sentence about matter in a book.2. Teacher ask what is a basic unit of matter. Teacher show a video about how particles was found and known as atom.Q: How particles or atom are arrange in solid (ice), liquid (water) and gas (air)?
Explore:3. Compression test, compress each bottle containing ice, water and air.Q: which one is the easiest to compress?Q: which one is the hardest to compress?4. Simulation of particle in solid, liquid and gas. Q: From the activity given, marble is represent as one particle. Place the marbles into three form of matter.Q: Describe the arrangement and movement of particles in 3 state of matter. Activity 1: Present in front of class.
Explain: 5. Teacher demonstrate some activity to show that particle in different state move in different rate of movement. Activity 2: Discuss in group and presenting data in front.Q: Does beaker move from table (without any force) after a day?Q: Does red syrup move inside water? Predict the time taken for red colour disperse throughout water.Q: How long does it take for student at the back to smell the perfume?6. Teacher explain the arrangement and movement of solid, liquid and gas particles. Q: By using the information given, organize their description into a table provided.
Elaboration: 7. Study the effect of heat and changes of physical state in solid, liquid and gases. Study from the video carefully.Q: Draw how particles arrangement change into another state of matter. Mention the physical process involve.Q: Complete Worksheet 1 and Worksheet 2.
Assessment-EvaluationStudents reflection,Activity 1: To make simulation about the arrangement & movement of particles in solid, liquid and gas by using marbles. Able to explain properly.Activity 2: Discuss the movement of particle and able to presenting data.Worksheet 1: To study the effect of heat and changes of physical state in solid, liquid and gases.Worksheet 2: Phase changes of state.
Teachers reflection,1. What is your favourite part of the topic?2. What was difficult for you today?3. Is there anything you would like me (your Chemistry teacher) to know?
ResourcesIn class: Demo apparatus & material, Worksheet, Video.Additional: Amali Proses Sains (APS), Sasbadi, Essential Science Practical book, Cerdik PMR Attack Science
