WHAT IS CATTLE ?
Cattle—colloquially cows—are the most common type
of large domesticated ungulates. They are a prominent
modern member of the subfamily Bovinae, are the
most widespread species of the genus Bos, and are
most commonly classified collectively as Bos Taurus.

BREEDS OF CATTLE These are various breeds of catlle found in Asia, EUROPE AN
AMERICA.
1. Philippine Cattle Breed
The most popular in Batangas which is the lowest, with
medium height and width. It has white hooves, short legs and
fine bones. They are said to be of dual purpose type. They are
raised as working animal and for their meat. They are also
known for being prolific and resistant to diseases.
2.American Brahman
This breed is popular for its meat and its
hump on the shoulder. It is grayish-white with
loose pendulous skin along the dew lap and
under the throat down to its forelegs, horn
curve backward and upward. Third is one
of the best imported breeds for commercial purposes.
The American is a breed of cattle originating in the United States and
known for its heritage as an American Bison hybrid.
3. Red Shindi
The breed which originated from
Pkistan is a good source of beef
and milk. It is also a workin animal.
It has a humpand is docile.
Red Sindhi cattle are the most popular of all Zebu
dairy breeds. The breed originated in the Sindh
province of Pakistan, they are widely kept for milk
production across Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri
Lanka, and other countries.
4. Santa Gertrudes
This is an imported breed that can
adapt to the hot climate of our
county. They are prolific like the
native cattle. The breed has light
red or dark red color, with deep,
wide and thick bodies and no obvious humps. It is a good
source of meat.
Santa Gertrudis cattle are a tropical beef breed of cattle
developed in southern Texas on the King Ranch. They were
named for the Spanish land grant where Captain Richard
King originally established the King Ranch.
5. HELLORE
This breed of cattle is a good source of meat.
It can be trained as a working animal because
it is strong and active. The color ranges from
gray to white with black swath. Its body is medium
size and cylindrical. It has a hump but not prominent as that of
Brahman and it has pendulous dewlap.
Nelore or Nellore beef cattle originated from Ongole Cattle (Bos
indicus) cattle originally brought to Brazil from India. They are named
after the district of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh state in India. The
Nelore has a distinct large hump over the top of the shoulder and
neck.
6. THERPARKER
This breed of cattle is raised for dairy purposes
and used as a working animal. It has grayish or
white color and small horns.
Therparker then again, in the past these cattle have been known as
White or Gray Sindhi, since they are native to the Province of Sind and
similar in size the Red Sindhi: this name, however, is no longer used.
The Thari is not a homogeneous breed, but that it has the influence of
the
Kankrej, Red Sindhi, Gir and Nagori breeds.
