PanelsA comics panel is visual content that captures a moment from a larger story.
• The edges of a panel are often defined by a border, usually rectangular, but not always.
• Sometimes the panel won’t have a border
• Vignettes are panels containing fades at the edges.
• Insert panels are places inside or on top of the frame.
Panel to panel transitions• Moment to moment- require very little
imagination from the reader about the moment that has taken place. Goes from one moment to another.
• Action to action- follows the action of the character from panel to panel. Goes from one character action to another.
Panel to panel transitions• Subject to subject- switches from one
subject to another within the same scene.
• Scene to scene-goes across large distances of time and space.
Panel to panel transitions• Overlay transitions- a superimposed
visual element that affects several panels.
