2) Text Caption : The previous lesson overviewed the process of developing the Central Idea. Every speech requires the Central Idea to be supported by Main Points.
WHAT ARE MAIN POINTS?
Main points are complete sentences that create a dialogue with your audience. With your main points you want to create questions in the mind of your audience. You will answer the question in your support of your main points. You make a claim in your main points and you support your claim in your subpoints, sub-subpoints, sub-sub-subpoints and so on.
The following are examples of Main points:
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about cell function for bone marrow and stem cells.
Central Idea: "The purpose of a stem cell transplant or a bone marrow transplant is to replenish the body with healthy cells and bone marrow by capitalizing on specialized cell function.

Main points evolve from the Central Idea.
I.(Main Point 1) "Stem cell and bone marrow transplants offer solutions to otherwise incurable disease."
II.(Main Point 2) "Stem Cell and bone marrow transplants have been successfully used to treat leukemia."
III.(Main Point 3) “Scientists are exploring new uses for these stem cells that go beyond diseases of the blood."

We have previously considered some methods to maintain the attention of the audience in terms of body language, eye contact and customization based on audience analysis. Here are some other important tips to consider:
Provide interesting facts or surprising statistics
Describe a problem
Tell a story
Ask a question
Encourage audience participation
Speak with intonation and enthusiasm
Make sure your speech is easy to understand and logical
If possible, keep it brief and concise. The longer the speech the more difficult it is to maintain attention.
Use variety and relevant visual and audio aids
Be sure your environment is free of distraction
