  • Talk about this months character trait which is kindness. Talk

about how the whale felt and how our friend might feel when

    we pick on them.

Outward appearance is rarely a true indicator of inner feelings,

though, and the same reality is reflected in the whale, who turns out to be a gentle giant who is remarkably polite. Size should never be a factor in determining friendship, and Willems's two pals are happy to

    have a new playmate. 2-3min.:

    Whale Ball

Students will have to find their way around the whale course

    There will be 4 stations

Station 1 and Station 4 (Whale Wiggle)

First they must toss/pass the ball from one person to

the other in their line before the first person can leave

    from the cones.

From their cones the must wiggle thru the tunnel, jump

over the ropes and find their way to the bucket of balls

    in the middle.

Next they will take pick a ball and toss that ball up and

down (the number of times is determined by the card

    that they flip numbers 1-10)

Finally, they must wiggle back to their cone and tag the

    next person in line

    Station 2 (Stick balance)

First they must toss/pass the ball from one person to

the other in their line before the first person can leave

  • from the cones.

They must step on each spot dot carrying a ball on the

top of the balance pole. Stop when they get to the large

cone and come back stepping on each spot dot on their

    way back.

    Station 3 (Foot balance)

First they must toss/pass the ball from one person to

the other in their line before the first person can leave

    from the cones.

Stepping on the balance line with one foot and a ball

balanced on their hand, they must find their way to the

center of the room where there will be a pile of balls.

They must step off of the balance line place the original

ball in the pile and replace it with a new ball and find

their way back to their team

**Before the next person can go each time the team must first

toss/pass the ball to everyone in the line**

***The teammates left behind must cheer their teammates

    on***

    Closing

In what ways did we toss the ball?

Which locomotor skills did you use today?

What is the character trait for the month?
