ACTIVITY 1 CHECKING HOMEWORK

Aim: to check students work and review the present forms of verbsMethod: conversation

Timing: 10 Interaction: T-Ss, S-T; lockstepProcedure:

Students had to use present simple and progressive in an exescise from their textbook-Robby, the house robot- He does lots of jobs but today hes doing lots of silly things

Teacher asks one of the students to read one or two sentences from their notebook and the other students to listen and say if they agree with the choice. If students do not understand the correct forms they may write it on the board. ACTIVITY 2 WARM-UP

Aim: to warm students up to create a positive attitude

Methods: conversation, dialogue

Timing: 5 Interaction: T-Ss, S-T; lockstepProcedure:

Teacher asks students if they like parties and if they wear a special costume for this. They have to remember Halloween-party when they wore a fancy-dress, and what costumes they were disguised.

ACTIVITY 3 LEAD-IN

Aims: to introduce the new topic;

to create expectation and arouse the students interest in the topic of the listening text;

Methods: dialogue, conversation;

Timing: 10 Interaction: T-Ss, S-T; lockstep

Procedure:

Teacher asks students about pupils and teachers from Kingsway Highschool they know, and their trip to the zoo, then teacher shows the picture from the textbook with a party. Teacher asks students what animals are the costumes and what pupils are in disguise.

Teacher writes on the board the pupils and the teachers and students have to write the animals they recognise:

Sally tortoise

Nick monkey

Debbie rabbit

Sita lion

Sanjay cock

Ben crocodile (snark) Mr. Martin black cat

ACTIVITY 4 LISTENING TO CONFIRM EXPECTATION

Aim: to listen to identify key information needed in solving a task;

Methods: explanation, conversation, dialogue;

Timing: 10 Interaction: T-sS, S-S, S-T; pairwork Procedure:

STEP 1 Teacher directs comprehension task.

Teacher asks students to close their textbook and they are going to listen to a tape with the end-of-term party at Kingsway Highschool. They are grouped in pairs and they have to complete a True- False exercise while they are listening. The text is divided in six sequences. After each sequences the tape is stopped and replayed if necessary. Students get the worksheets.

Teacher asks one student to read aloud the sentence and make sure students understand what they are going to do.

STEP 2 Students listen for the task

Students listen to the tape and teacher play the tape twice for each sequence and stop the tape after each sequences as students complet their task.

STEP 3 Teacher directs feed-back Students check their answer with each other first in pairs. Teacher helps them to see if they have completed the worksheets with the right answers.

Teacher may play the cassette again for sequences student do not find the right answer.

ACTIVITY 5 LISTENING FOR COMMUNICATIVE TASK

Aims: to promote free and spontaneous language use; to identify the listening words in a written text

Methods: conversation, explanation, dialogue

Timing: 10 Interaction: S-S, S-T, T- Ss; pairwork

Procedure:

Step 1

Teacher instruct students they have to listen again the first part of the tape and they have to identify and underline the wrong words from the tapescript they get.

Its Monday night at Kingsway High School a very special Sunday night. Its the beginning-of-term party. Tickets are L5.10. The money is for animals at the farms. Its a fancy-dress party, so all the kids are wearing uniforms school costumes. And theres cake for the best costume. One student will read the text aloud.

Teacher makes sure students understand the task.. Step 2

Teacher plays the tape and students listen and perform their task.

Step 3

Students check their answers in pairs first and discuse their choice. Then teacher asks them to check their answer in the textbook.. One student will read the correct text.

ACTIVITY 6 EVALUATION AND HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT Aim: to evaluate students work;

to assign students homework

Methods: conversation, explanation

Timing: 5 Interaction: T-S, S-T; lockstep

Procedure: Teacher grades some students and accounts for them. Students are assigned to answer few questions related to the part of the text they read.
