I. OBJECTIVESAt the end of the discussion, 80 % of the students with at least 75% proficiency

level should be able to:

a. state the second postulate of special theory of relativity;b. recognize the special theory of relativity in daily life; andc. discuss the concepts of the second postulate of the relativity.

II. SUBJECT MATTERTopic: Special Theory of RelativitySub-Topic: Second Postulate of Special Theory of Relativity

Materials: Teacher’s made visual aids and prepare video presentation.

III. TEACHING STRATEGIESA. Routinary Activities

Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities-Pick up all the pieces of paper under

your tables-Remain standing and let’s recite our

opening prayer.-Good Morning class!

-Secretary of the class, please check the attendance for today.

(picking out the trash)

(one student will lead the prayer and the rest will follow)-Good Morning Sir

-Sir, no one is absent for today

B. ReviewTeacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

Before we proceed to our lesson, class let’s have first a short recap.

What is our topic yesterday? And who postulate that theory? And the first postulate of theory of relativity stated that..?

Very Good! I think everybody knows our lesson yesterday. Let’s now

proceed to our next lesson.

- Special theory of relativity Sir! - Albert Einstein Sir!

- The laws of physics are the same in all inertial reference frames.

C. MotivationTeacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

-Before we start I have here a story. But for us to complete the story, I want you to guess the appropriate words for the

different pictures in the story. Our story for today is entitled

“The Tale of Twin”

Very Good Class! And that story is somewhat related to our topic for today which is the “ Second Postulate of Special Theory of Relativity”

(The students will complete the story by the help of different pictures on it.)

Once upon a time, there was a twin. One enjoyed the settle life while the other was wilder and adventure seeking. One day, the wilder decided to embark on a journey into deep space. The two embraced before parting. The rocket travelled at near the speed of the light straight into the unchartered dark depths of space. It took him five years to realize how much he missed his twin brother. He turned around and headed back home. Another 5 years passed before he returned at last to earth. Upon landing, he ran to reunite with his long separated twin brother.

D. Unlocking of Difficulties

Teacher’s ActivitiesBefore we proceed to our lesson, I want you to be familiarize to the terms that we might encounter in our today’s discussion.

-All you have to do is to pull the meaning inside the words.

1. FRAME OF REFERENCE

2. MOTION3. POSTULATE

4. SPACE

5. TIME

Student’s Activities

- The students will go to the board and pull the meaning inside the words.

-the position and the motion of an object

-the movement of an object-assume to be true, as a basis for

theory or discussion-the boundless expanse in which all

things exist and move-definite portion of duration, movement, period or season

E. Lesson Proper

Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

After knowing the first postulate of theory of relativity, let’s proceed to the second postulate. But before that I need 4 volunteers to create a scenario.

Class in which scenario do you think would light travel faster?

Ok class for us to know that let’s have first what is stated on the second postulate of theory of relativity?

Now based on what you have read, is iton the first or second scenario?

Very good and why do say so?

Excellent! Let’s proceed now to its concepts namely…

(4 volunteers will be group into two and will execute a scenario that will be given by the teacher.)

First scenario Sir!Second scenario Sir!

The speed of light in free space is the same measured value regardless of the motion of the source or the motion of the observer; that is, the speed of light is invariant.

The same scenario Sir!

Because both scenario have the same speed of light and light travels both in free space.

(The teacher will give an example using videos in every concepts)

Simultaneity

Spacetime

Time dilation

Remember our story earlier? That is the good example of time dilation.(The teacher will continue the story)

Only to find him, no longer his twin, but an old man. During his 10 year journey, 50 years passed on Earth. He finally discovered what truly valued more than adventure.

Okay class, do you have any questions regarding with our topic for today?

(The students will read the definition of every concepts and watch the videos)

-Relativity of Simultaneity explains the two spatially separated events occur at the same.

-Spacetime is the arenas in which all physical events takes place.

-An actual difference of elapsed time between 2 events as measured by observers either moving relative to each other or differently situated from gravitational masses.-Yes Sir

(The students will listen to the story)

None, Sir!

F. GeneralizationThe students will complete the diagram by putting the appropriate meaning of every concept.

IV. EVALUATION:Directions: Identify the terms being discussed by the following meanings. Write

the answers in the space provided.

______1. This concept explains that two events that are simultaneous occur at the same time.

______2. This concept explains that there is a four dimensional continuum namely x, y, z, and time.

______3. This postulate states that the laws of physics are the same in all inertial frame of reference.

______4. This concept explains that the duration of the interval appears longer than the proper time.

______5. This principle is the interdependence of matter, energy, space and time.

Key to Corrections:

1. Relativity of Simultaneity2. Spacetime3. First Postulate4. Time Dilation5. Special Theory of Relativity

V. AGREEMENT:

1. Explain briefly the General Theory of Relativity.2. Give some findings about the General Theory of Relativity.
