Warm-upOn Stage• Tell students that they are going to become actors and

actresses. Students will have to follow your instructions as if they were on a stage. E.g. (Read) a (book).

Presentation Poster: Back to school

• Stick the poster on the board so all the children can see. • Explore the poster. Possible questions: How many

(boys) are there? Then count the boys, girls and other school objects in the classroom.

• As you count, write the sentences on the board. E.g. There are 10 boys.

• Draw students’ attention to There is vs There are.

PracticeFind the differencesStudent’s Book, pp. 90-92• Pair up students (Student A and Student B). Tell

student A to look at picture A on page 90 and tell student B to look at picture B on page 92. Tell students that there are four differences between the pictures and that they must identify them through speaking and without looking at both pictures. Tell them that the differences are related to the number of objects.

• Write down the following structure on the board for the students: In my picture, there is/are… In pairs, students should then take turns telling each other what they see in their own picture. As they find the

differences, they should mark them with an on their picture. Go around the classroom monitoring students. Make sure that they are speaking English. The first pair to find them, wins. Give out reward stickers. • Students have to choose their favourite object from their schoolbag and present it to the class. Before students make their presentation, you should give them an example and write it on the board. E.g.My Favourite ObjectHello. My name is (Simon).This is my favourite (pen).It’s (blue).I (write) with it.

• Allow students some time to choose the object. Students should write it first in their notebook so you can monitor and correct students’ writing. Then, one by one (if possible), students come up to the front of the class and make their presentation.

• Tell students that at the end, there will be a quiz and that you’ll test them to see who was paying attention by asking questions about each object.

Ending the lesson• Ask students questions about what they heard in the

previous activity. E.g. What’s (Alexandra)’s favourite school object? The students who manage to answer your questions correctly should get a sticker from the reward section of their student’s books.
