Lessons Learned From Our Recent Rebuild of Our Corporate Career Web Site
www.inova.org/careers
Skeleton makes structure concrete: What components will enable people to use the site?
Surface brings everything together visually: What will the finished product look like?
Structure gives shape to the scope: How will the pieces of the site fit together and behave?
Scope transforms strategy into requirements: What features will the site need to include? Strategy is where it all begins: What do we want to get out of the site? What do our users want?
Proper Planning Prevents Problems
www.inova.org/careers
• Put the information a candidate wants at their fingertips whenever
possible (job feeds, functional area information, etc.)
• Give candidates multiple ways to interact with your organization
(i.e., apply for a job, sign up for a mailing list, connect on social
media, etc.)
• Tell your organization’s story in multiple ways from a trusted
source using practitioners and employees through copy or video
• Don’t forget about Mobile devices and a good candidate
experience
Focus on the Candidate Experience
www.inova.org/careers
• Build a launch plan ahead of time and conduct a soft launch within
your department before the rest of the organization
• Remember to keep timelines flexible - lots of moving parts
• Expect feedback – both positive and negative
• Start planning for Phase II - the site should be maintained regularly
Project doesn’t stop when the site launches
