Let the Games begin! Opening Ceremonies for the Whitehorse 2007 Canada Winter Games will take place with a huge celebration on Friday, Feb 23. There is a lot to celebrate, including the 40th anniversary of the Canada Winter Games, and the first time the Games are held north of the 60th parallel. The Opening Ceremony will be a rousing welcome and a cultural showcase of the emerging north. Details for Team PEI: 3:45 pm: All Team PEI participants meet at bus stop # 1 (Circle near gym entrance) Board bus "F" The bus leaves at 4:00 pm sharp and will deliver you directly to the door of the Atco Centre. Remain on the bus until you are summoned. Judo is first team off and first team to enter stadium. Teams will assemble as directed by mission staff, walking into the stadium in lines of four. Move to seats as directed, and be prepared to remain in your seats for entire ceremony. You will not be permitted to get out of your seats during the show as it is being televised live. Each athlete will be provided with a bottle of water at ceremony. Travel light (cameras are OK) Walkout Suit Required for Opening Ceremonies: Team PEI outer shell Team PEI black pants Team PEI scarf Team PEI hat The bus will return you to the athletes village following the opening and the cafeteria will be open for supper. Please eat quickly to make room for other participants, who will also be hungry! Have Fun! Team PEI Flag Bearer Announced Patrick Knox, Judo, has been selected to be the flag bearer for Team PEI at the Opening Ceremonies for the 2007 Canada Winter Games. This is the third set of Canada Games for Patrick. He got involved in Judo when he visited the Rikidokan Judo Club during his brother’s hockey game. He has been selected to compete with Canadian junior judo team in Germany March 2007. He is the Junior National Champion 100+kg, Senior National Runner-up, Quebec Open Jr & Sr Champion, Ontario Open Jr Champion, Ontario Open Sr 5th place; and he represented Canada at International Tournament/ Training Camp in Bremen, Germany finishing in 5th place. In wrestling, Patrick recently won gold at the Eastern Canadians. On March 15-18, 2007 he will be a key member of the P.E.I. team taking part at the Junior Nationals, in Charlottetown. He is also the Greco Roman Wrestling Junior National Champion in Heavyweight Division. National Artists Program Prince Edward Island’s National Artist Team consisting of Katie Ramsay, Mitchell Underhay and Daryl-Lynn Ramsay start their intensive two week participation in the games first thing Friday morning. They will meet NAP participants from all across the country to brainstorm and begin planning for visual and performing arts presentations. Activities are at the Yukon Arts centre, immediately adjacent to the Athletes Village. Ringette Let’s all get out and support the Team PEI Ringette Team Friday at 10:00 am at the Canada Games Centre. Let the Games begin!

Opening Ceremonies for the Whitehorse 2007 Canada Winter Games will take place with a huge celebration on Friday, Feb 23.

There is a lot to celebrate, including the 40th anniversary of the Canada Winter Games, and the first time the Games are held north of the 60th parallel. The Opening Ceremony will be a rousing welcome and a cultural showcase of the emerging north.

Team PEI Flag Bearer Announced

Patrick Knox, Judo, has beenselected to be the flag bearer for Team PEI atthe Opening Ceremonies for the 2007Canada Winter Games.

This is the third set of CanadaGames for Patrick. He got
