THE CHILDS DEVELOPMENTGROWING WITH VIKING
In this catalogue, you will find toys suitable for children between 1-5 years old. By reading this guide, you will get an understanding for the child’s development, which is the basis for Viking Toys product development
0 – 1 year From not being able to keep their head up or see properly in just a few months they can turn around, sit and stand by themselves. They start to communicate and learn their first few words.• To roll, to sit, to stand up and eventually take their first steps• To develop their senses by investigating hands and mouth• Babies love give and take games, that is a way to for the child to develop trust; You give your toy away and you get it back, it’s a really nice feeling for the child.
1 – 2 yearsNow the child wants to move a lot. They develop their senses even more and start using more words. Sometimes it’s hard for them to express themselves and they can get very frustrated. ”No” is a very common word as they want to try and test themselves. They still play side by side and do not want another child to take their toy. Can make a tower of bricks.• Like to pull things after themselves.• Want to do things by themselves.• Can put together words in short sentences.
2 – 3 years• Play simple memory games.• Role play with dolls, trucks and toys animals.• Can ride a tricycle.• Do a simple jigsaw puzzle.• Climb and run fast.• Testing limits to understand what is ok or not.
3 – 4 years• They can start to count in small numbers• Walk backwards and keep the balance• Dress themselves• Fine motor skills are developing more and more• Now they do role play together and make up stories together
4 -5 years• Friends are starting to be important.• Use the word ”I” instead of their own name.• Stand on one leg for a few seconds.• Ask a lot of questions, they are very curious.• Start to understand cause and result. Can combine their mind and fine motor skills.• They can do a somersault.• Fantasy and stories are always important in their play.• They like to play theatre and the role play is fully developed.• Learn to understand the time and want to learn the clock.

When I started Viking Toys in the mid 70’s, my dream was to create the safest and most durable toys on the market…toys with high play value which would inspire children to use their imagination. That dream still inspires me and everyone on the Viking team, and it remains the backbone and philosophy of our company to the present day.

ReduceBy producing toys made from Biothylene, we reduce our environmental footprint by increasing the number of renewable resources as well as using a raw material that is fossil free and which absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere during its natural photosynthesis process.
ReuseViking Toys are made to last, and with the new Biothylene material, this doesn’t change. Biot-hylene is just as durable as conventional plastic which means that it withstand generations of play.
RecycleThe Biothylene is 100% recyclable together with conventional plastic. So if someone against all odds would like to retire one of the Ecoline toys they can just throw the toy in a plastic recycle bin to be reused as something else.
