I was impressed with the thought that was put into the speeches and the way each of the Year 6’s demonstrated confidence and spoke with clarity. It was also brilliant to hear the school values as a common element, which is showing how well these are becoming embedded into our school culture. Congratulations to each of our Year 6 students for delivering fantastic leadership speeches. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SCHOOL LEADERS Following the speeches the student body voted and the results are as follows: School Captains: Georgia and Jono Vice Captains: Kendra and Joel Red House Captains: Chloe and Maison Blue House Captains: Tahlia and Jack Green House Captains: Estelle and Evan Gold House Captains: Heidi and Will Congratulations to our school leaders for 2018 and we look forward to working with you. YEAR PREP FAMILIES On Thursday 8 th March The Geelong Advertiser is coming to take a group photo of all our wonderful Year Prep students, for their special publication “My First Year”. Please ensure your child is dressed in full school uniform to represent our school proudly. I will let families know when this is released. these invaluable for getting the school year off to a flying start for your child, and it is incredibly helpful when parents and teachers are working on the same page. The feedback from parents as they were leaving was very positive, indicating that the interviews are a helpful communication process for you. Always remember that you don’t have to wait for formal opportunities to meet with your child’s teacher. We are on the gate after school daily for quick chats, and you can make appointment times for anything that might need either some privacy, or a more extended conversation. As always, we really look forward to working with you towards the best possible outcomes for each of your children this year. HOT CROSS BUN DRIVE Hopefully this week you would have received a yellow ‘Hot Cross Bun Drive’ form, from your child. This is the first of our school fundraisers for 2018, raising vital money to increase our resources. Woolworths in Ballarat have done a magnificent deal for us, so we are able to sell the hot cross buns for the same price as you would get in the supermarket. They also make them fresh in store! We are offering the 6 packs of fruit, fruitless and choc chip for $3.50 each. We are asking for all orders to please be returned by Tuesday 20th March and they will be sent home with your child on Tuesday 27th March, which is only 3 days before Good Friday. We appreciate your support with this. WALK FOR JOHNO – MINI MOVERS – FUNDRAISER There was an amazing community atmosphere at Lethbridge PS yesterday for the Walk for Johno Mini Movers Fundraiser. A huge thank you to everyone for their massive support; walking with us, ticking off laps, dressing in red or donating. All led to a hugely successful event. We are proud to announce that so far we have raised $735.55 for the Heart Foundation. Donations can still be made and merchandise is still available to purchase via the website; http://doitforheart.org.au/event/walkforjohno2018 . On the final day of term, prize winners will be presented for the most money raised. Please keep donating!

VISITING ARTIST – AUSSIE ALLSORTS On the 1st of March, Tim and Ruth taught us that everyone is Australian in some way and that we are all unique. They taught us that different cultures have their own way of telling stories and showed us the story of how koalas have stumpy

tails, an Aboriginal Dreamtime Story. We were taught that when European’s sailed to Australia, they couldn’t understand each other because they spoke with many different accents and created Aussie ‘slang’. From 2000 to 2018, the country with the most people migrating to Australia was not China, not Scotland, but… New Zealand! Unfortunately, my question of, “When was Holden started?” couldn’t be answered. Overall we had a great time and learned lots of new and interesting information about Australia’s history By Michael (Year 5). We hope you have an enjoyable weekend, Emma Remilton STUDENTS OF THE WEEK
