Phase 1: Study Themes
Your NP:J experience begins before you ever set foot in Japan.
Pre-departure orientation materials include lessons designed to prepare you for your on-site study tour of Japan.

Phase 2: Study Tour in Japan
15-day tours include study days in Tokyo and Kyoto and a one week homestay and school visit.
Select an NP:J recommended itinerary or design your own using study day building blocks.

Phase 3: Follow-on Activities
The NP:J curriculum includes follow-on activities to help
synthesize and give meaning to your experience with Japanese
culture.
TLI staff will be pleased to assist teachers in discovering new ways to ensure that students get the
most out of NP:J.
Program fee includes… Pre-departure materials
Roundtrip international airfare to/from Japan
Airport transfers in Japan
Accommodations in Tokyo and Kyoto
Breakfast and stipend for dinners during Study Days
Host families will provide meals during homestay week
Transportation from Tokyo -> host community -> Kyoto
Sightseeing in Tokyo and Kyoto including transportation and entrance fees with the exception of the Ghibli Museum and Tokyo Skytree
Cultural exploration activities, homestay, school visit
IC Rechargeable Card for transportation – Transportation allowance provided on daily basis
Program fee does not include… Transportation from home to the U.S. departure airport
Insurance coverage More information on requirements and travel insurance resources will be provided to your Lead Teacher in the springtime
LUNCH during Study Days, snacks, and drinks
Homestay portion: Any transportation, entertainment, and activity costs incurred during free time
If you lose your IC Rechargeable Card, then you are responsible for any remaining transportation cost for the rest of the day + purchase of new card ($5)
You MAY be responsible for the checked baggage fee for the domestic portion of your flights. TLI does not have control over individual airline policies. If you are charged, retain your receipts for full reimbursement upon your return.
Personal expenses such as internet fees, postage, excess luggage fees, souvenirs, medical, dental, or hospital bills
Travel before/after NP:J If you wish to travel in Japan before/after NP:J,
you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements and costs/fees involved
Please let your Lead Teacher and TLI know if you have plans to travel before/after the program
TLI can book your return flight on a later date, but you will be responsible for any difference in airfare if your ticket cost is higher than the rest of the group
