A Poem about faith by Leigh Hunt

“Abou Bin Adham”Abou Bin Adhem was a pious man,

He awoke one night from a deep dream of peace, And saw, within the moonlight in his room, 

Making it rich and like a lily in bloom, An angel writing in a book of gold. 

Exceeding peace had made Bin Adham bold, And to the presence in the room he asked,

"What writest thou? The angel raised its head: And, with a look made of all sweet accord, 

Answered, "I am writing a list of the names of those who love the Lord." 

"Is mine one?" Bin Adham asked. "No, not so", Replied the angel. Bin Adham spoke more low, But cheerly still, and said, "I pray thee, then, Write me as one who loves HIS fellow-men." 

The angel wrote and vanished. The next nightIt came again with a great wakening light,

And showed the names whom love of God had blessed, And lo! Bin Adham’s name led all the rest.

Let’s make a promise to ourselves that whenever and however we can, we

shall always render a helping hand to the poor

and needy!!!!
