PURPOSE OF TRANSITIONTo ensure that the student begins the new year with all the necessary supports in place to allow him/her to be successful.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR KINDERGARTEN
All students who are five by September 1st
Early Entrance to kindergarten Students that turn five between September 1st
and December 31st. Have to be screened
KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION Curriculum and Standards
What does the day look like?
What does my child need to know to go to kindergarten.
MAKING THE TRANSITION SMOOTH
Communication is critical Home and school Preschool and Kindergarten teams-including
related service providers Complete the “What Works” forms and pass on to
home school
Participate in meetings (if there are any) for your child
MAKING THE TRANSITION SMOOTH Get to know your home school and prepare
your child Sign up for your home school’s and the district
listserve Attend Kindergarten Orientation nights January
24-check your school for the time Attend Meet the Teacher night Visit the school

PROCESS AND MEETINGS Preschool notifies home school of incoming

• Decisions are made as a team-parents are a critical part of this team.
